Those "facts" that state Japan has a lower crime rate is a LIE. America is actually safer than Japan. This is because the Japanese police always report any death as one by suicide if they don't think they can solve a murder case. The next time a libtard tells you that Japan bans guns and Japan is "safer" because of this, make sure to remind that libtard that those Japanese crime statistics are LIES. Japan is probably the number 10 country in the world for MURDERS. I have been to Japan numerous times. It is very safe from street crime, BUT not murders from people who know you. People in Japan kill each other for all sorts of reasons such as life insurance fraud, jilted lovers, competition in the workplace, etc. That's because the crime of MURDER pays in Japan since almost all murders are ruled a "suicide" by the police. They do this because polititcians will lose elections if the populace doesn't feel that they are being kept "safe" by the police.

Also, 1/3 of rapes in Japan are rapes of children. (sorry, I forgot where I read that statistic)

I remember one case in Japan where a young sumo wrestler who died had bruises and cigarette butt burns on his body but the police ruled that as "death by natural causes" (suicide). The sumo center's instructor tried to have the body cremated before the parents got there. The parents raised a big stink about it in the press. (from HBO's "freakonomics")
