Wow. I guess that makes you a communist/socialist. I find that weird. I mean, you obviously support 2nd A rights and other freedoms, but I can't think of any communist countries where people are allowed to have guns and freedom.

I'd disagree with you here about the role of the government. The main reason we have a government is to make sure that contracts between men are enforced. That's it. People help people, not the government. In case you forgot, a democracy is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. In other words, the government should be nonexistent, almost. The people do stuff that they would do anyways, regardless of whether there is a government or not.

The sad thing is that people's lives are too short. We cannot remember a day when most men were decent and we helped each other without the government stepping in to do it for them. In the old days, if you wanted your arm fixed and had no money, the doctor would set it for you and accept your chickens as payment. Or he may even take your case as charity. I volunteer once a month at a free clinic to see indigent patients. All of us who work there bring in our drug company samples to give away to these indigent patients for free treatment. Did the government force me to do so ? No. I do it because it is the decent thing to do. And as for the $10 aspirin at the hospitals, you were charged that because that $10 aspirin paid for the nurse, doctor, E.R. room, etc. It was more than just an aspirin. People's lives are just too short to remember that the United States of America did fine for over 100 years with ZERO national income tax, social security, medicaid, medicare, obamacare, and we even had no large standing army. Kids took care of their parent's retirement. Doctors worked with you if you couldn't afford medical care and they even made house calls. If the Apaches, Mexicans, or British attacked, we didn't need a large standing army because the free citizen would volunteer with his own guns and ammo to fight for his homeland. Decent God fearing men did decent things and worked hard to build the greatest nation on earth with ZERO government interference.

I mean, Americans own more guns than all the world's armies combined (200 million guns). We bought more guns in 2009 than the combined total arms inventory of the world's 20 biggest armies. Do we really need to be taxed for a defense budget?! If we can still remember the good 'ol days when doctors worked with you on affording good healthcare, would we really need obamacare? If kids weren't public school brats who don't honor thy elders and took care of aging parents, then would we really need social security? I mean, nobody is alive from the days when kids did not go to a public school but did apprenticeships instead. An apprenticeship program is sort of like a doctor's internship program. I give my interns reading assignments, homework, and research papers to write. In exchange, they'll learn and gain experience by working with responsible ADULTS as peers. In a public school system, the kids peers are crazy kids instead so the peer pressure is not to be a responsible adult. If we were to go back to the apprentice system of education, would we really need a public education buget? I invite you to just think. If you just think about it like that, you'd realize that we would all be better off if we were to shrink the government to its former size in the year 1850. If we paid zero personal income taxes, the economy would flourish, there'd be no more school bullying, and this nation would be great again.

I think Obama himself said it best when he declared that
America is the greatest country on earth. Let's change it.
Why change a great thing and make it worse? America got by fine with zero income tax. The only taxes we had were on tobacco, whiskey, and an import tariff. That's why I'm a conservative. I would like to crank back the clock 160 years to an era when this nation was the fastest growing economy on earth.

P.S. Those commie liberals got to Switzerland. Those rifles now have zero ammo in them. The Swiss service rifles used to come with a brick of ammo. The gun banners in Switzerland banned the ammo, which is a sneaky back door way to ban guns.

P.P.S. Let's start writing checks to "tea partier" candidates, folks. I propose that we all budget at least $1000 per person in your family to donate to political causes. If you're in a traditionally liberal state, then better make that $10,000. If our brothers and sisters can give their LIVES for their country, the least we can do is cut a check. Let's do it! Let's make sure big O can't pass gas after the elections!

Re: Special Session???

Mark,

You're good guy who believes in freedom and constitutional government (I've been following your posts), but have you ever lived in some of these countries with nationalized health care? My family escaped from such a system. Some social medicine programs are better than others. However, even the best of them will want to take your freedom away in the name of decreasing the cost of nationalized medicine.

France banned smoking in all public places. Hong Kong banned smoking in all public places. I hate smoking and it's a nasty habit but the fact is that the FREEDOM to do something was taken away WITHOUT a DEMOCRATIC vote in the name of public health. In the name of public health, and without a democratic vote, your right to bear arms could be taken away. You know those liberal "studies" that say you're more likely to be shot with a gun in a home that has a gun than in a home that doesn't have a gun? Well, they're going to be used to take away your guns in the name of public health. The NRA's statement that it won't do that is a boldface lie. I'm a big annual donator to the NRA and I deliver them new members every year, BUT I think that they all too often compromise too much with our 2nd amendment rights. If we compromise a little here and a little there, then before you know it, BAM, your rights as a free man are GONE.

I hate the present healthcare "system" (if you can call it that) just as much as you, but I invite you to consider that perhaps there's another way. Perhaps, expanding the Medicare/Medicaid system just a tad to encompass more members that want it WITHOUT forcing the entire country to get health insurance from the government whether people want it or not.

My family ran away from socialism and communism only to find it growing in the USA.
