Re: Range in Ft Hood

Re: my son and daughter-in-law, I had read about the change in policy that was effective in early December. I went straight to the Hood website and printed off the new policy letter and registration forms, and gave them to the kids.

My son called his section leader and platoon sergeant, both of whom insisted he had 72 hours to register (and they've both been through the process). His wife and I pointed out that this had changed upon issuance of the new policy, which requires registration before any firearm is brought onto the post.

He's not very communicative, but she is, and since she hasn't told us that he's in custody, I assume they managed to get things squared away. ;-)

Re: Range in Ft Hood

Thanks for that update. I'll pass it along to my son and his wife (both active duty soldiers at Hood). They had the cutest little domestic squabble about the new home defense shotgun we bought them for Christmas: he called everyone in his chain of command about bringing it back to their post housing and then registering within 72 hours, and she read the new regulations literally (as did I), and threatened him several ways from Sunday if they got busted at the gate with an unregistered shotgun.

Anyhoo, I'll let them know about the range. Because they changed their plans, we didn't get to break in their new shotgun at my local range. Thanks!
