Yes. It's the very first exemption in PC 46.02:

46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not:

(1) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control;

I bet this guy wishes he'd been carrying at home. Luckily he was able to grab a pistol while inside.

Edit to add: I looked up that address on Google street view, and it's a "nice neighborhood", too. I bet nothing bad ever happens there. :banghead:
