So Court rejects murder conviction. Police Officer will only get maybe 48 months for stupidly shooting from the passenger seat of the patrol car an unarmed Australian woman who called 911, nearly missing his partner nose who was in the drivers seat of the patrol car.

Now apparently the sword cuts both ways, this will be used to appeal conviction of Police Officer who unfortunately had his knee on the side of the neck of a criminal who was dieing of a drug overdose.

Woman came up to the police car at drivers window to assist the officers. Startled the officer in the passenger seat who then drew and fired from within the car just in front of his partners nose killing her instantly.

Reduced to manslaughter 2, sounds like 40 months instead of 12 years.

Minneapolis sure had its share of police fatalities.

They are saying the lighter charge is because of race and point to the Australian woman’s murder as proof. ( all she did wrong was call 911 )

6 people of color seated on the jury of 12 plus 4 alternates.

The police officer is Somali - American. The victim who was killed is Australian - American.

Rather than color I think religion may be more important.

People of color is an interesting concept. If your looking at skin color. No one is “white”, no one. Everyone’s skin has color.

From the juries I have been on if the defendant is planning not to testify, then this comes out in the jury selection process. You are usually asked if this would affect your decision on guilt or innocence, after being told about the right not to testify. If you feel it would affect your decision you are excused from the case.

As you might expect in gun free Australia, this is still big news. Australia only has 24 million people. One murder is a big deal down there, as it should be.

If an officer is ambushed and fired upon, having "gunfire" turning on the body camera could be a useful feature. Obviously if the weapon is suppressed and far enough away, there is a possibility that it wouldn't pick it up.

Afterwards police get a warrant and search the dead, Australian, caucasian, bride to be, blonde, 40 year old, woman, in pajamas, apartment.

Apparently they did not find drugs or a gun or we would know about it. You can see the head line- Woman Shot by Police had Guns and Drugs in Her Apartment. That would obviously make the murder ok.

Someone raised an interesting point, how many on duty police officers have been killed by Caucasian women in lets say, the last 100 years?

Do police perceive Caucasian women in their 40's in pajamas as threats? Or was it just this one police officer?

Would it be profiling to not consider them a threat?

It reminds me a little of the Dirty Harry movie, where he loses the shooting contest.
