Remington 870. From the looks of it, the home defense model with extended magazine tube, 18" barrel and synthetic stock. He cut the butt of the stock off, leaving just the hand grip so it was short.
Would cutting the stock off make it less than 26"? Or would cutting off the stock convert the shotgun to an "other" weapon regardless of length, thus making it illegal with out paying the tax. So in other words did he have an illegal weapon?

Seems to be enjoying himself on the video.

So sad.

Navy yard shooter was given security clearance by same folks who brought you Edward Snowden, the leaker, whistleblower, traitor, humanitarian person who now has sanctuary in Russia.

They are also talking about the fact that the shot gun broke down and he used buck shot. (the shotgun equivalent to hollow point) I guess buck shot will be outlawed because of this.

On the other, side a right wing blog is reporting that Marines have reported that they could have stopped the shooter after three rounds, if they were only allowed to have ammunition for their weapons.
If the shotgun "broke down", it was probably because he didn't clean it first, or because he didn't know how to run a shotgun properly. Has anyone heard what brand/model of shotgun he used? I mean, when the AR-15 was used by that evil-doer in Connecticut, the mass media screamed out to all parts of the planet that it was a Bushmaster. Amazing how things change when the FACTS of an incident don't fit the carefully crafted narrative the mass media wishes to tell. As always, my disgust with them knows no limits. The mass media isn't responsible for all the problems in this nation, but they are a big part of the problem.
Broke down means he carried it in with the barrel and or stock removed from the receiver and then reassembled it before the shooting. That would make it more easily carried in and concealed.
Sorry didn't mean to confuse. The reports were he assembled the shotgun in the bathroom. I assume folding stocks and buck shot will be next on the agenda for the antis.

Re: Active shooter on loose in US Navy yard.

TV news is reporting that the AR15 was not his, he took it from a dead guard he had shot is what they are saying.

Whole thing is very sad.

Re: Active shooter on loose in US Navy yard.

"He was arrested in 2004 in Seattle for shooting out the tires of a construction worker's car in an incident he later described as "an anger-fueled blackout."

His upstairs neighbor in Fort Worth was afraid of him. They had words and then he shot a bullet up through her floor. He said it was a gun cleaning accident. Gee, I have always removed all the bullets from my gun, before I start to clean it. Also I don't remember pointing it up, ever. Never remember pulling the trigger as part of the cleaning process either. I must be doing something wrong.

At least his CHL was not from Texas.

Oh, this is a double gun free zone. Military Base completely inside the most gun free city in America.

Re: Active shooter on loose in US Navy yard.

Reported shot from fourth floor balcony onto cafeteria courtyard below. Used an Ar15, pistol and shotgun.
The rifle would explain the high number of casualties vs wounded. Three people are reported wounded.

Re: Active shooter on loose in US Navy yard.

Two policemen confirmed dead. RIP.

12 confirmed dead. RIP

May or may not include the shooter.

Shooter wearing military style uniform.

Saw one guy in a NCIS blue jacket, but FBI taking the lead on the investigation that would be Tobias C. Fornell.

Since shooter was from Texas, it will be our fault for making guns easy to obtain, not that it was a gun free zone.

Gun free zone not mentioned once by anyone. Shelter in place was their only option.

Four wounded all critical, no fatalities. Included in the wounded is one Washington DC police officer. Guns are very nearly illegal in Washington DC.

The TV series NCIS takes place in the US Navy yard in Washington DC.
