Re: Ranges in San Antonio?

I'm taking a few days off work and just got back from A Place to Shoot. Haven't been there since the change in management and I've got to say WOW! The place has really been cleaned up nicely, the pistol range has had the broken target cables fixed and it appears new dividers are in place (grates are still there so still hard to recover your brass if you reload). The new archery range looks nice, maybe I'll have to get back into that. The folks behind the counter were friendly and quick to help, all in all a nice experience. I always liked going there but it's about 30 miles away from my house. If it keeps going this way I'll be willing to make the trip.

No brass gets spit at me from other shooters since they have dividers between stalls. My only negative, and it is only a problem for reloaders, is that they have a grate that your brass falls down into. If you reload take a tarp or sheet to lay down over the grate.
I've been told that the new owners have filled in that area with concrete and the grate is no longer there.
I was there last week and the grate is still there. The new owners are cleaning the place up though. It's looking much nicer than when I first started goingthere.
I haven't been there in a while I guess, didn't know it was under new ownership. I'll have to see if I can make the time to get there to check it out. Hope they are working on fixing the lanes on the pistol range that weren't usable. That was really the only negative thing I found about the place, too many lanes where the cable was broken or otherwise inoperable.

I'm in agreement here, A Place to Shoot is a very laid-back range and I'm comfortable taking my 12 year old son there with me. Biggest problem for me is it's so far away, about 30 miles each way but $10 lets me shoot as long as I want so I'll put up with the travel. When I don't have the time to drive across town or if the weather's bad I just go on over to the Bass Pro range, only about 10 minutes from my house and not a bad place to get a quick shooting fix in. I know this is an old thread but just wanted to add my 2 cents.
