longtooth wrote:+1 for diode. I have the 9152L & really like it. Kimber Pro 4" also. The night sights are worth the difference IMO. Either way you won't be disappointed. Keep hidding the $
Cool, if you happen to have a pic of your 9152L could you send it to me. I was leaning toward that one and was curious what the sights look like. Do you use it as a carry gun or just range shooting?

HOSSISFREE wrote:Wow folks! Thanks for the responses. I keep looking at Kimber because I have friends that swear by them, but I just can't decide on which length, model, and such. Although, I have a little time to figure it out. They're a little pricy, so I have to squirrel away the funds for a little while.

Kimber seeking,

While your at it, look at the Springfield full size Black Stainless. (PX9154L)

I been wanting one for so long now, I can't make a decision anyway. I really like the Springfield's but then again a Colt or a Kimber would just be fine-o-neat!

DaveT wrote: The Kimber Ultra Carry is lightweight, and very easy to conceal. Add night sights ($142.50 installed at Kimber's Custom Shop), or a Crimson Trace Model LG 404 laser and you have the perfect concealed carry weapon.... in my humble opinion, of course !
I agree, I loved the Kimber I shot. Just a little expensive. ;-)

The Springfield "loaded" Stainless is my wish list choice right now, the Kimber is a tad pricy fer me. :)

Houston1944 wrote:It is not just nostalgia that attracts folks to the 1911. They are great pistols that perform when needed. As long as we are talking about the 1911 as a carry pistol, don't overlook the S&W 1911PD. I often carry a full size 1911PD. It weighs about 10oz less than the steel frame models and for some of us older shooters that makes a big difference.
That was what impressed me, I was more accurate with the 1911's than anything else I have fired.

I have recently been bitten by the 1911 bug. My brother has a Colt Model 70 and a friend at the range has a Kimber. After shooting both I have decided to start looking for one. I own a Xd-45 and have become a Springfield fan, so I am semi-shopping for a Springfield.
