Re: Retired my gig guitar, Guitar Pics
Nice guitars!!! I have a Martin D-42 at home. Don't dare bring it out here with me. Wouldn't care to put it through the heat and dust, not to mention wouldn't want to have to bug out and leave it behind for some camel jockey.

Re: Homemade bbq gun grips and holster
That's professional grade work. That gun and holster would be welcome at any Texas BBQ I've been to. Now, if you can come up with some excellent bbq sauce to match your other work, I'd say you'ld be the jefe at any bbq you attend!!!

Re: Just Say No To Serpa?
Sorry, the point I was trying to make is that most people would practice with a holster before carrying it for actual use. It is assumed that anyone who carrys a gun would continue to practice with it, his holster of choice and ancillary equipment. Thankfully I'm not a security specialist out here. ...

Re: Just Say No To Serpa?
I think the Serpa is an excellent holster and have many friends and co-workers who use them. I really like the Comp-tac holsters and have been using one since the fighting started in Iraq and Afghanistan. I've never had any problem with them, and I'm sure the three I have with me will last til my ti...

Re: August 2009 Applications
Packet arrived in Austin on 03 August. Checked on-line yesterday and it says Application completed, license issued or certificate active. Not bad, looks like DPS is doing their best to get these applications done on time!!! :clapping: :clapping: Thanks Joe817, maybe your comments helped!!!!! :txflag...

Re: License is complete.
Someone must have lit a fire under DPS's butt. My application was mailed out on 01 August. Just checked on line, and I got the word: application completed. license issued or certificate active. Plastic "should" arrive before I return home on r&r in October.

Re: August 2009 Applications
My paperwork was also received by DPS on 03 August. Should be interesting to see how long it takes for approval. I held a CCL from 2002-2006 it expired while I was serving at the Embassy in Paraguay 2006-2008. Last time I submitted my paperwork in October and received my license in March. My timing ...

Re: Just Say No To Serpa?
I don't know about shooting schools not liking them, but it seems like half the security specialists in Iraq and Afghanistan carry them. I don't think there's anything wrong with the holster; perhaps some of the users who have had problems didn't take the time to adequately train with the new rig.

Re: Hand Loads for Self Defense
I've read many magazine articles where the writer warned against using reloads for self defense, saying it could be used against you in court. Former Texas sheriff Jim Wilson is now a gun writer with (I believe) Shooting Times. He has addressed this issue numerous times, and says he has never been a...
