Re: What about renewals?

I have a renewal who did her on-line application about 2 weeks ago, we are doing her shooting tomorrow morning. Another also did his on-line application back in mid-August. He is planning on taking a class and shooting in about 2 weeks. Since I did not hear for sure about not needing the proficiency...

Re: Qualification w/40 rounds?

Had this gentleman shoot all 50 perfect head shots, he would have scored 150, not a passing score, I certainly counted the shots as 3 pointers.

Re: Instructor Renewal Application question and fingerprints

Thanks, Bill,

My fingerprints were not initially electronically submitted, but I have had a CHL renewal since so I assume they were successfully digitilized at the time of renewal. Any thoughts on that?

Re: Qualification w/40 rounds?

I was told in the instructor class of 2007 by Riggs, all 50 shots are required. Do not stop after 40. When I had a misfire during that instructor qualifying jam, I was given an opportunity to make up the shot by the RSO on the shoot all 5 at once command (I was told to shoot 6). I think they mean it...

Re: New procedure from Austin

First student we had that tried the new procedure could "not be found in the system" even with DPS entering the information for her (She was on the phone trying to get this clarified), so she was told to submit the information on a paper form. I recently requested paper packets and new boo...

Re: packing in class

If you have a license you may carry, but it must remain concealed and you may not take it out for any reason unless you NEED it for self-defense. As you become instructors, you must be very aware of your gun handling skills which includes safe gun handling and NO GUN HANDLING IN PUBLIC, EVEN AROUND ...

SmartCarry worn on right hip, for over 3 years.

Purses get heavy and I don't wear a belt. Never leave home without it!

Most important safety is the trigger finger. My glock is always cocked when I carry, which is all the time.

If it is nearing the 2 month mark and you haven't heard, call. Very frequently there is a minor problem that has gotten it put in a waiting stack. Once you call attention to it, if it is minor, they will usually issue within a couple of days of your call. It is more than that, they will tell you whe...

My oldest student received her CHL Thursday, expires on her 93rd BD.

My husband and I both carry and I teach CHL classes. We both teach NRA Basic Pistol. We have really enjoyed doing it together.

I am still new at this but tell my students before they sign up that this is a proficiency test. If they do not quailify with at least a 225 (what instructors are required to shoot), I recommend they practice extensively before they carry. If they qualify with less than a 200 then I recommend they t...
