Re: July 2009 Applications
There was a post in another area of this forum that said that the printing and mailing steps have slowed down due to the volume. Seems like it may have added more days to the process. Here is the cut & paste quote.
So I am still thinking late next week, if I am lucky. My friend who has been waiting for his plastic finally got fed up and called today. His app went to completed 11 days ago and still no CHL. Basically he was told that literally thousands of licenses went to print in the last two weeks and that after printing they are reviewed and mailed. While the person he spoke with didn't come right out and say it, he was led to believe that completed/printed licenses do often sit in the mailroom or wherever for any number of days before going out. He was told "If you don't see it in another week let us know".

Re: July 2009 Applications
I tend to agree ... Friday of next week! Btw, anyone from the July class call DPS to see if any of these recent approvals have actually been processed? Maybe the applications are just approved! Oh ... what a terrible thought.Friday will be ya'lls day

No license today either ... and I thought for sure today was the day. Nevertheless, this is still better than "Applicaton Processing!"by CLTX11 » Wed Sep 09, 2009 3:00 pm
Well no plastic today
Maybe USA is right, he said thursday!
And so it goes.

Re: July 2009 Applications
While I wait for the USPS, I ordered two (2) Woolrich Lite Concealed Carry Vests. Here is the link http://www.woolricheliteseriestactical.com/vests.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. For what's it worth, I ordered them from http://www.bigcountrysupply.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in Abilene and I was treated 1st class. Their prices are excellent too.
I wore one of these vests this weekend and it was very comfortable while shooting. I highly recommend these if you are in the market for this kind of clothing. I still need a quality 1 1/2" belt, but since money doesn't grow on trees, maybe next month?
Edit: Spelling

Re: July 2009 Applications
I thought I have a few more weeks to finish some upgrade purchases like an 1 1/2" belt, CC vest, and a few other things. But DPS is so efficient right now, that I need to hurry up and get those things plus a few more items. Geez, what a problem to have!

Re: July 2009 Applications
You got that right! I've wanted to do this for years and the last thing I want to do is act "stupid", play LEO, or any of the other 'dumb or dumber" antics you read about. And thanks for the support.Congratulation Viffer. Just remember to wait until you have plastic in hand before doing your Wally/Target Walk.

Re: July 2009 Applications
Well I am so excited, that I think I will just bypass the walk at Walmart and go straight to Target! So if I am an example of the July 2009 class, then this is good news for my "classmates." Btw, I sent a thank you note to DPS at chl@txdps.state.tx.us since it sounds like they have taken some real heat in the last 12-18 months.

Hope those in the July group are seeing the results from the June group? Here is a cut & paste ... about 60 days or so. I may have to re-adjustment my time frames in the signature line!

Re: July 2009 Applications
Looks like the 1st 30 days have passed since THE MAILING DATE and without any hits, runs, or errors for the home team! I sure hope the 2nd 30 days pass as uneventual. I wish I knew which of the gun gods I should make an offering? Thought about the Glock god ... passed. Then the S&W god and also passed. Finally settled on making an offer to the Sig Sauer goddess! Figured She would keep an eye out for me. So far, so good.

Re: July 2009 Applications
Hello Joe ... I'd like to be optimistic, but I know that during October, November, and December, government workers drop into a slower gear. And during November and December, almost neutral! At least that's the case with the 2 State agencies I work with. So I will try to be optimistic ... nay! What's the point? LOL

Re: July 2009 Applications
A little bit of good news on this Saturday morning. The application entered the processing phase! So the time from initial application to this step was very reasonable. I hope "they" like my photos and that my finger prints are satisfactory. One step at at time I suppose. However, I am not ready to revise my estimates on "plastic in hand", which is early 2010.
