I was thinking about the Sheriffs who are taking a stand against new restrictions on gun rights. So I sat down and emailed my own county sheriff and all the adjoining counties asking what their stand is.
Here is an example of one:
Dear Sheriff Cox,
I would like to know what your opinion is of the growing list of County Sheriff's around the nation that are standing up for our rights:
Last week, this list was 40, now it's 174 Sheriffs not including New Mexico:

And now 30 of the 33 counties in New Mexico have also stood up for our rights:

Lawful citizens who are not guilty of what criminals do should not have their rights stripped away by the very legislators who are sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States. These legislators and the main stream media are merely using a series of tragic crimes committed by the mentally ill or evil among us to further their agenda to eventually disarm the American citizen for their own ends. They will not stop until they eventually make all of the nation as helpless as the citizens of Chicago, Detroit, or even Mexico.
Please, I ask what your stand is on this? I am a woman and disparity of force is a greater concern for me as it is for the elderly and the disabled. My elderly parents live in Hill
County. I feel politicians who swore an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution should not tell me or them that we can have only 10 bullets to defend ourselves from even multiple assailants bent on taking life or tell us a "double barrel shotgun is better than an AR to defend yourself with because its easier to use". (Joe Biden's silly words this week). Heck I can barely lift a double barrel shotgun and I know my elderly mother can't. I pray I never find myself in a situation where I must resort to deadly force to protect myself or loved ones. I know the men and women in law enforcement would not want to be limited to 10 rounds or a lesser armament to defend their lives from the same criminals who attack citizens. Why should we be?
I sincerely thank you for your consideration of this and for any answer you will take the time to relay to me. I fear if we do not speak up for our rights, we will someday wish we had.
God Bless,
