Re: Another Texas School to allow concealed carry

I am not too far from Cleburne. It's a growing small town with a lot of influence from the rural areas around it. I hope they do allow trained teachers to carry. I always see someone objecting to anyone but a police officer carrying in a school. There is nothing sacred about the training police officers receive. If most teachers decided to change careers, they could become police officers and be out on the beat instead of the classroom. Any teacher who is physically capable and has a sheep dog's heart can be trained to be very effective, IMHO. I respect LEOs very much, but judging from some targets I've seen, some of them don't get to the range as often as they should so a teacher who was committed to regular practice and situational drills taylored to the school environment would do just fine. The idea of putting guns into lock boxes under the teacher's desk puts the gun too far out of reach if a shooter suddenly showed up while the teacher is several feet from the desk or out in the hallway. Perhaps that is a good location for a larger capacity gun, with a smaller gun carried on body for immediate use until the larger gun can be obtained. Best of both worlds.
