Re: Illegal removal?
This is interesting. A couple years ago when a family member was arrested in Houston for a minor offense, the new car he was driving was impounded somewhere. He rode in the back of the squad car while the officer drove literally over 100mph on the freeway all the way to the station scaring the handcuffed passenger half to death. We spent two days calling everyone from the dogcatcher up trying to find out where the car was. Houston PD could not "find" any record of it. On the internet, I found where lots of people were angry their cars were sold out of those lots for unpaid fees they would have paid if only they could have found out where they were. Finally, one kind officer told me off the record that if we would simply report it stolen, it would be "found". I thought that very strange, but agreed to do it. The instant we called to report it, a miracle happened. The woman said wait a minute, let me check something. She came back to the phone with the name of the lot and the number to call. I sincerely hope this was not a similar situation and you get your guns back. Hopefully, they had good intentions for taking them considering they may have thought it was an attempted suicide, but why not leave paperwork? There was no paperwork on the car either even though there was supposed to be. For the many excellent officers who serve their communities with dedication and honor, it only takes one or two doing things that cause distrust in the community to make all their jobs harder. I hear these things about Houston far too often.
