I figure CHL protection should cost less than that since they dont have to represent you for IA investigations, just for criminal actions, and possibly civil.

A. No. While TMPA was founded by municipal police officers in 1950, membership in TMPA has grown to include all Texas peace officers. Anyone in a law enforcement related career is also welcome to affiliate with TMPA, enjoying all of our membership benefits.
Doesn't sound like they will cover a civilian with a CHL...
