Re: crazy gun video
Hmm. Sorry, but I don't take counsel from fools. It's called credibility and this bone-head has none. Even if he had a PhD I wouldn't start grabbing slides and karate chopping beer cans. I really don't know why we're even debating this clown's ideas. He's good for a laugh and nothing more.SwimFan85 wrote:He may be an idiot but he's a whole lot smarter than people who ignore the message because of the messenger.

Re: crazy gun video
Have you seen his beer can videos? This man is assuredly an idiot.AndyC wrote:Welcome aboardkatybsrt wrote:Just recently bought a gun and started shooting again. I am new to forum and inexperienced, but this guy seems like an idiot to me.![]()
Well, I don't think the guy is an idiot per se - he's obviously well-meaning, but there's a lot more to be aware of than just grabbing the slide or a revolver's cylinder. It's a factor to be aware of, yes - but it is not a disarm in itself, and the promotion thereof is irresponsible as disarming is in no way a sport.

Re: crazy gun video
I guess the reason that I find grabbing a gun so foolish is that if someone were to even gesture toward my drawn gun I would pull the trigger until it stopped going bang out of fear of losing it and having it used on me.

Re: crazy gun video
So you grab the bad guy's gun and hold his slide while you take a round to your chest or head. Then while he's laughing, you pull the gun from him, rack the slide, and then empty it in the bad guy? I don't think it's a good idea to ever suggest grabbing a bad guy's gun.davidtx wrote:Yes, they remove the weapon from the BG. IF you can avoid the first shot (which as far as I can tell, requires both skill and a lot of luck), you will have your hands on the gun, one of them on the slide. If you've done your job correctly and been lucky, the gun won't be pointing at you. I find it reassuring to know that a second shot won't destroy the hand I have on the slide.
My instructor is in the process of learning to teach this skill and is definitely NOT a gun expert, so I've been reading as much as I can from other sources. I found this article interesting: http://www.usadojo.com/articles/deadly-gun-disarm.htm

Re: crazy gun video
It's difficult to figure this guy out. On one hand you think he's a comedian that has created a gun-nut, over zealous, self defence instructor moron character, but something tells me that he may be the real thing. Does he really conduct classes where he spreads his stupidity? This is the exact thing that will make people fear guns/gun people. Still I can't help but think that he's doing a Sasha Baron Cohen thing. Hmm.

Re: crazy gun video
What benefit is there? You stop the next round from cycling after you've been shot once. Then the bad guy racks the slide and empties the gun in you. Am I missing something? And you have to grab the gun, which guarantees a good point point shot into your torso.
