Mine was approved (although I mailed early may and was sent to processing in June 10).
It appears, and I say 'appears' that they are working through their backlog and 'pushing' most of the old apps out first. Almost like they brought in a workforce and said "here, take care of this old stack"

Re: June 2009 Applications
So, I called DPS again. They said mine was sent to the printer in july, but came back "defective", they have sent the license again and I am 2-4 weeks out per felicia's instructions during the call.
Given that, what they have told me (my license is being printed) since July 10, almost makes sense.
I don't know how they become defective or what that means, but this is just silly, a waste of time and taxpayer coin.
Anyway, I am going to just visit with my state rep on this today, his office is near my office. This is the first time I will have brought this up with him.

Re: June 2009 Applications
So, called DPS, said mine was "sent out to print today" and that it would be mailed next week.
However the website says "processing"

Re: June 2009 Applications
so, just called *again* for an update.
The gentleman with the patient voice told me that they "just received my background check last week" and that I should be off to the printers soon and should receive my license in 2-3 weeks.
Well, I find this odd, as I was told this same line about a month ago.
Yay.
I think I might opt for a non-resident license in another state. I almost hate the fact that my money is going to this overly slow and inefficient state agency.
And to think I thought the government in NY was wasteful and slow...man.

Re: June 2009 Applications
So, it appears that DPS is getting caught-up. I could not resist the urge today and called them.
I did notice that they appeared to be installing a new phone system with prompts...I got a LOT of busy signals after 2-3 rings. A couple times I got the prompts but it just hung up on me. This will be fun for the future bunch. Waited an hour later and called again, got through after waiting en queue 7 minutes.
The nice young lady said all of my checks were in and they did not need anything from me (fingerprints, photos, blood, money). I was going for 'final review' then 'printing'. I inquired will this take a 'month or two' and she kinda snickered.
So, good news I guess?

Just curious, what county and when did you send off?Fotopro wrote:I was out of town for a week. I get home and "processing application" still in the window.
I'm sure glad nothing happened while I was awaybecause I didn't have the capability to check the site twice a day like I do from home.

I am posting in June due to the "application processing" change on June 10th. I assume that is when my 60 day mark starts. They sat on my app for about 30 days prior to starting to process it.
the start time is really supposed to be when they receive it , by their definition .
sitting on it for 30 days seems to be normal these days .
hope you dont have to wait too long .

Re: June 2009 Applications
I am new here, in Collin County.
Course 5/2
Mailed packet 5/4
Application Processing 6/10 (received email from DPS and saw the change online)
Called to inquire 7/10 (said some backgrounds were back, fingerprints ok and I needed to do nothing)
Approved ???
Plastic ???
Some background that may help...In the time period DPS has requested addresses and places of employment I have lived in both Texas and NY. I was born in Texas and spent all but 4 of my adult years here. I just hope they are not waiting to get something back from any government agency in NY as those agencies will probably make TX dps look like a speed demon. Regardless I have nil criminal record.
