I found this interesting
Apparently the YETI uses a different plastic for their lids than does Rtic. First test I've seen using an oven with high temps. I wonder if the Rtic would do as good as the YETI with a YETI lid replacing the one that comes with Rtic cups?

Looks identical to the 30 oz. Yeti, which by the way, states on the bottom "Designed in Austin, TX Made in China"
They are all made in China, including YETI. YETI just copied the Tervis Tumbler and had them made in stainless steel.

DevilDawg wrote:RTIC is currently being sued by Yeti for trademark infringement. I might caution against ordering one until the dust settles. If you check around there are several other makers now making the same type of coolers. Magellan, Ozark Trail, and one from Cabelas I hear. The Coleman Xtreme 5day holds ices nearly as well and is under $30. Ask me how I know. ;-)
 YETI's lawyers are goung to be busy. There's Engle, Bison/Brute, Yukon, Grisly, Pelican, Orca, Canyon, Siberian, K2, IceHole and several others I can't recall. Igloo should get royalties for every plastic bodied cooler made since they started the trend with their ABS chests. They used to have four 48 qt chests supporting a Jeep Wagoneer to prove their strength; one under each wheel. Of course they were full of ice.

Sometimes, I put them in the fridge to cool down the water, but I just as often fill em up at the kitchen sink and drink em without chilling. You can actually slug down a lot more water if it's room temperature.
 My grandfather, a farmer, would fill a Mason jar with water and some ice, wrap a rag around it and take it to the field. I always noticed he would sip the water until the ice melted and the water wasn't as cold before he'd take big long draws on the jar. I copied him and found out why. He also drank a big glass of water BEFORE he went out to work.
I wonder how the new tumblers would fare against the old Thermos style bottles with vacuum glass inserts.

I've seen a couple of tests that showed the Coleman Extreme chests are great and the best bang for the buck.

Re: Watching Ice Melt - YETI VS. WalMart

I ordered handles for mine from Ebay. You can getthe 20 oz or the 30 oz for about 4 dollars. They're probably available on Amazon, too.

Watching Ice Melt - YETI VS. WalMart

Not exactly shooting related unless you consider staying hydrated on these blistering days important. I have been contemplating buying one of the new stainless steel tumblers everyone seems to have these days. All my kids have YETI brand and I being on a fixed income just couldn't justify 40 bucks on a vessel for my water. I have had Tervis tumblers for years and they are very good, but not as good as the YETI's. I ran across a couple of stainless tumblers in Wal-Mart that looked just like YETI's (and all the other expensive copy cats). The 20 oz is less than 8 bucks and the 30 oz is just under $10. Before I purchased one of them I perused the internet for comparison tests and I was impressed. One test lasted 50 hours and there was virtually no difference between the YETI and the Ozark trails brand carried by Wal-Mart. I bought both a 20 oz and a 30 oz tumbler and did a test for myself. One of my daughters left her 30 oz YETI that I used for the test. Not as scientific as some on the internet, but I put the same amount of ice in them and I could see no difference. So if you need a good, cheap, rugged stainless vacuum tumbler I can recommend the Wal-Mart Ozark Trails brand with no hesitation. :thumbs2:
They also have stainless steel koozie can keepers just like YETI for under 8 dollars.
