I'm glad they caught the guy and hope that justice is served.

My prayers are that Mr. Mixon will be ok.

Glad to hear he's a familiar name to you. I was a regular at the Marksman Range in the 60's and 70's and Tom took a particular liking to me and my twin brother. I think he had twin boys as well and named them Brett and Bart (maybe after the Maverick TV brothers). Tom entertained us with his pistol twirling and shooting skills many a night. I seem to remember him showing us a picture of him in buckskins at Knotts Berry Farm.

Time gets away so fast and I didn't realize he was that old. But then again I'm old now too. He would drill the bullseye at 50 feet off hand with his little Chief Special Airweight. I alway told him I wouldn't ever want to be in his sights. I have to believe the attacker caught him by surprise or asleep. He was a crack shot and if he had the chance I'm sure he could put a pill in the right place.
Anyway he's a very interesting guy and a true patriot and I hope he recovers fully.

The first time I shot a handgun was my Dad's Colt .25 at the Marksman in the summer of 1970. I was 10 years old. ;-) I remember Mr. Mixon. He was such a nice guy and of course rather taken with the little girl shooting her Dad's handgun. You're right...time flies.

Like you, I'm pretty sure he was taken by surprise or the attacker wouldn't have stood a chance.

Channel 2 KPRC did a story on Tom last night but I missed it. He lost his right eye and every bone in his face was broken. Aggravated Robbbery charge seems somehow inappropriate.

Former Proprietor of Marksman Range in So Hou Assaulted

This was sent to me by my brother who used to shoot with me at the Marksman Range in South Houston. Tom Mixon ran it back in those days. He may still own it and has a museum in South Houston. My prayers go out to Tom and his family.
