I was told beside criminal BG they checked with IRS, county/city tax authorities, student loans (I am 61). I wasn't aware issues with taxing authorities could hold up a CHL. The level of the background check required is at their discretion. If they simply reduced it to a simple electronic check, then it wouldn't take more then a few seconds for each one, but, from what I've heard, theyre doing a LOT more detailed checks then they need to.

Approaching 150 days. Packet Recieved by DPS 2/27/09, DPS says waiting on Harris County. Numerous phone calls and letters to State Senator and Repreentative have yeilded no results in expediting. Still "processing Application" status
