And funny, since it's filmed in Santa Clarita, CA.
Well the guy is a Texan, but if you watch him when he was a contestant on Survivor, or his appearance on Curb Your Enthusiasm, he doesn't normally sound like that. Nobody normally sounds like that.

You can really tell when he says the word "challenge." He can't Texas it up and his voice goes all nasal.

Meh!

Re: Top Shot 3

I stopped watching about four episodes in this season. I could deal with the manufactured drama because that is just the nature of reality TV these days, but I couldn't take the host any longer. Watching his facial contortions as he tried to make his voice go from normal dude to SUPER TEXAS was just embarrassing.

I could have even dealt with that if they'd let him do voiceovers instead of just standing behind people shouting the play-by-play. Ugh. Really disappointing because the concept of the show is great and the guys who come up with the courses seemed to have really upped their game this year.

Re: Top Shot 3

I think I might be done with this show. How they have managed to make a show about people shooting cool guns for money so god awful boring and lame, I will never understand.

The only thing I could think when they brought out the previous winners to help them with strategy was that those guys won because their strategy was to be bland and blend into the background until the last couple of challenges. That kind of drove home how pointless it all is.

Re: Top Shot 3

This was the best and worst episode so far this season.

Good
- The mountain guns were awesome and probably one of the best challenges they've had in the show.

Bad
- The past seasons have shown that nobody can throw knives or tomahawks even into a flat piece of wood. Why they thought adding rotating boards and blocked targets to this was a good idea is completely beyond me.

- I nearly lost it when they went to the weapon overview screen and it just said "Rock."

- Where did these guys learn how to throw? Small children can throw rocks through a window 10 feet in front of them. It was just embarrassing.

- There is one scene where they failed to obscure the host when he wasn't actively shouting. He was in the background. The entire time he was standing there not realizing he was on camera and listening to his ear piece his mouth was just going through these ridiculous cowboy mouth contortions, and I again almost lost it. He does this thing that he must have gotten from his voice coach where he stretches his lips back really tight and pulls them really hard against his teeth when he wants to sound extra country. It was awful to behold.

Re: Top Shot 3

Makes me jealous. I wish there was somewhere around here to go shoot at stuff like that. Someday...

Re: Top Shot 3

I didn't say he wasn't from Texas, but if you watch him on other shows (he was on an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, as well), he does not sound like that. I think his voice coach must cringe every time he says the word "challenge" because he always slips out of cartoon cowboy mode when he says it.

:iagree: On both counts!! More shooting and less lip flapping. And it is great to see the wide variety of weapons used and the actual results with slow motion.
It doesn't annoy you that you very rarely get to see any of the actual shots? It would be like watching a football game where everytime the ball was passed it cut to a generic slow motion shot of an actor dramatically catching a ball before cutting back to the actual players just standing around after the play.

I'd also like to see more head to head matches like they had towards the end of last season with the plate breaking and the flipping targets. That was a lot more fun to watch then the aforementioned guys standing around while stock slow motion video is played.

Re: Top Shot 3

Things that would make Top Shot more watchable:

- show the actual shooting instead of prerecorded slow-mo shots

- have voiceovers instead of the host standing behind the shooters yelling

- get the host to stop using the ridiculous fake accent.
