Re: Why so may fireams in .40
All my semi autos are in .40 (well except for my one .22lr). I have 5 M&P .40's, (2 5", 2 4.25", 1 3.5") and one H&K USP .40. I like the caliber but the main reason I stick to it is that the weapon I'm "issued" to carry at work is in .40 and i prefer to minimize the ...

Re: Hard primers in Monarch/PPU ammo???
I know this thread is 2 months old, but I just wanted to add that I've had light primer strikes in revolvers with .38/.357 magnum and in autos with .40 S&W monarch ammo. It's the only ammo i've ever had trouble with in my pistols. I guess there's a reason why it's so cheap.

Need a duty belt that fits through 1.75" loops
Hi, I recently began carrying at work but I face some challenges. What I need is a belt that doesn't have to go through any belt loops and can easily be taken on and off while the holsters stay attached. I have to take this belt on and off 3-5 times per day from a seated position; currently I'm just...

Re: Pocket Knives - Are Tanto Blades legal?
Actually it looks like this
But I've realized since i posted my question that I'd rather have a drop point, which I'm more sure is legal. Thanks for the responses, as i would still be curious to know if the tanto is ok.

Pocket Knives - Are Tanto Blades legal?
Hi, I'm interested in getting a pocket knife to carry in addition to my pistol. I understand that blades in Texas can't be longer than 5.5", must not be double sided, and must not be "switch blades". The knife I'm interested in purchasing has a 3.5" folding "Tanto" blad...

Re: 1st Trip To The Range With Plastic
At red's, just don't be a jackass and no one will give you any grief. I usually carry my CCWs in, "remove" (not draw) them from their holsters and set them on the bench. I leave them there until its time to leave, at which point I reload them and carry them out in their holsters. I'm sure ...

Magazine Pocket Holster, Desantis any good?
Does anyone have any experience with these mag holsters? http://www.desantisholster.com/storefrontB2CWEB/itemdetail.do?action=prepare_detail&itm_id=1822&itm_index=0 I'm planning on using it to carry an extra magazine for my M&P 40 full size. I have a desantis superfly pocket holster for ...

It's a comp-tac mtac holster. It does pul my shirt in when I sit down or bend over, but I do a quick shirt tail pull-down maneuver to retain my concealment.

Re: Am I printing badly? Also, weak side vs strong side for BUG
The only thing I would do differently is put the BUG into a pocket holster. You don't have to spend a fortune on one Uncle Mike and DeSantis both make very serviceable holsters for $20 or less. Yeah, I agree, I definitely wouldn't want to pull a plaxico and get the trigger snagged on anything, so I...

Am I printing badly? Also, weak side vs strong side for BUG
Hi, just got my CHL in the mailand have a few questions. I'm carrying a S&W M&P .40 (16 rounds) in a comp-tac MTAC IWB holster as my main handugn, and a S&W M&P 340 .357 magnum revolver as my backup (5 rounds). I carry the revolver in a Desantis Superly Pocket holster. I know i'm pri...

Plastic in hand, today 9/10/09
I'm yet to do a wally walk, and to be honest, I can't stand those stores, but I did do an Arby's walk, carrying these:

Re: March 2009 Applications
Almost done here, switched to application complete today. Just waiting for the plastic in the mail now. Looks like I'll be finished at about the 5&1/2 month mark.

Re: March 2009 Applications
YabuUS: I thought mine said the same thing, but be sure you are not clicking the link for instructor certificates instead of regular CHL's. I believe I was mistaken in thinking that was a change in status to my app. In fact I was just following the wrong link off the DPS website. The pages for input...

Re: March 2009 Applications
I have a feeling those of us who are associated with Harris County in any way will be waiting for a looooong time. I'm about halfway through my 5th month of waiting with no sign of any progress.

Re: March 2009 Applications
Well, mine finally switched to "No Application or License/Certificate Active" tonight. The odd thing is that when I checked it at 5PM it said "No Application or License/Certificate Active", when I checked it at 7:30 it said "Processing Application" again, and when I che...
