Re: April 2009 Applications

Plastic came this weekend and today I did the Wally-walk. Went fine. The weight of the pistol (CS9 in my right front pocket) pulled my pants a bit low but my Hawaian shirt covered it.

I was three months and a week on the wait. Be patient and know that you'll get it (soon?) someday. There IS hope.

Feels Good :woohoo

Re: April 2009 Applications

Took the class on April 18. Mailed it in on April 20th. Got my license in the mail Aug. 1st. Three months and one week or so. AND... learned we are going to have our FIRST grandchild... all in the same day! Life is good.

See you guys around. I'll be looking for a bulge in your pants... Oops! That didn't sound quite right... I'll be looking to see who ELSE is carrying... there, that's what I meant. Hang in there all... there IS an end to the waiting madness. Plastic looks good and I'm even pleased with my picture. Wish I could find a smaller gun. I'm a small guy and need something that won't pull my pants down (I have no butt... I'm 5'8" and weigh 150). Suggestions? (After all, I'd look fairly conspicuous in Wal-Mart walking around with my pants around my knees!)

Re: April 2009 Applications

Thanks, USA1. Kept my nose clean all my life and lived the same place for the last 27 years. That probably helps. Living in "Prison City" might also have attributed on the relatively quick background check. They know how to process this kind of thing pretty fast I would think. Yes, I'm in Huntsville... but on THIS side of the Walls!!!

Re: April 2009 Applications

Took the class on April 18th. Mailed on the 20th. Been looking at "processing application" and was up to 95 days BUT today when I checked on line it said "Application Complete--License issued." Now we will see how long it takes for me to get it. It will probably come while I am on a week-long family vacation, beginning Saturday. Had the mail stopped. Hope to see it when I get home.

Whatever. Glad it's close to over. Sometimes "closure" is a very elusive thing. I guess I might have a little more patience in my advanced years than some on this forum. I never called or griped and I'm close to done fairly quickly compared to other counties (I'm in Walker County... two counties north of Houston). I took advantage of the senior discount, by the way, so maybe this option does NOT slow things down (as mention on previous posts). I thing the problem here is not only the volume of applications, but the relative population density of various counties and therefore the slowness of background checks. Harris county folks have my sympathy. Too many folks in that area. As we say here in Walker county... "Life's too short to live in Houston!!!"

Re: April 2009 Applications

83 days now and no plastic. (Walker County). Patience ain't one of my virtues. Still looking at "Processing Application." But I AM carrying... (only around the house!!!). Don't know about the "Wally Walk" thing... we are getting a new Target super store and I may have to do it in there... just as an "upgrade" to the prestigious event... in August, or September, or October... or? It would be my luck that they will have a 30.06 sign when they open!

Re: April 2009 Applications

If the Texas CHL folks are doing all this much business that they can't keep up with the letter of the law, then they are obviously receiving enough income to warrant and afford an increase in their staff and therefore productivity. It's just an obamanation in my estimation! Oh, wait... I have a Ph.D. and know that that word should be spelled "abomination." Sorry for my slip in good grammar and English. (I am not a particularly "political" person.)

Texas charges for CHL are much more money than most states ... but we are getting 2 cents worth of service... if that much. If we did our jobs this way... we would be GONE!!!

I am afraid of the socialist nation we seem to be moving towards... letting the government control everything. They are allowed to be "slackers" but if YOU and I did it, we would suffer the consequences.

The CHL processing chain is not handling this CH licensing situation very well at all. As a result, I therefore hope that the government will get the ____ out of health-care! Socialized medicine has not worked in any country that has tried it. You have to be nervous when a politician thinks he knows better than you about what is "good" for you.

Seems to me that the big "change" is not suiting most... I already hope the next election will cure this. I distrust anyone who really thinks they are smart enough to know better than we do about OUR business. How insulting. This sort of arrogance reeks from the present administration!
