Excellent points by TAM regarding Trump. But let me add that I think his biggest political failure was due to the people he picked - which led to many policy failures. Too many that were supposedly loyal to Trump were working behind his back to undermine him and or his administration. I understand the need to have loyal people, but he put that above all else and it didn't work. He picked people who did lip service to him. That is why you need principled people that agree with your position on the important issues, not necessary to pledge fealty to you.
We need someone who is going to pick the right people for upper and middle posts, including the VP. Look at the disaster at AG. Trump picked a loyal (and decent) Jeff Sessions, but who was weak and was not prepared to do the job to keep politics from the left out of the DOJ. The next GOP President needs to be able to put personal likes/dislikes aside and choose the best person for each job to implement the policy objectives he has for that post.

Re: DeSantis or Trump?
DeSantis - a fighter and much younger.
RE: Gabbard as a VP: NEVER, NO WAY, NOT EVER! Don't forget Gabbard is for all the fake hysteria of banning "assault weapons", high capacity magazines, universal background checks and an advocate for sensible gun control. https://www.ontheissues.org/2020/Tulsi_ ... ontrol.htm
I like Condi Rice, but I'm unsure if she would just be another enabler of the swamp in Washington. I'd rather her run the NFL like she wanted to years ago. We need outsiders that are committed to cleaning house in DC.
