Re: March 2009 Applications
I hope that is how it works. As stated above, mine is "sent to be printed", but still showing "processing application." From what I gather, it takes about two weeks to a month before getting the CHL after being sent to the printer. Kinda stupid still though, I bet it only takes 30 seconds to maybe 01 minute to print one out. The printer can't be "that back logged."

Day 154 today, checked status online, still shows "processing application." Called DPS, lady said just sent out to be printed, they will mail it out as soon as it gets printed up.

Re: March 2009 Applications
I am at day 146, so what got accomplished today? Well, for starters I faxed a letter to my state rep, then called to verify delivery. The lady asked, "is it a two paged letter?" I replied, yes, then she stated she placed it in his inbox, so hopefully he has seen it or will see it soon. Afterward, I took the same fax letter, copied and emailed it to DPS, I also Cc'ed DPS Director Steven McCraw. My fingers are crossed.

Re: March 2009 Applications
Faxed a letter to my rep. then called to verify the arrival. The lady who answered said she got it, and placed it in the inbox. Well, now we will see how this goes. Hopefully, it will do better than my previous phone calls.

Re: March 2009 Applications
I got tired of waiting and tried DPS one more time. Finally got through. I was more stern with them than i usually am. Of course, they gave me the same answer as always, "Hurricane Ike." Uh, that was almost one full year ago, they are either lying or the employees doing the BG for Galveston County are just a bunch of lazy slackers.
I hope they read these posts too! I know I sound a little imature, but I need it off my chest. Many of you understand. They also said they cannot send me a letter of denial without getting a BG on me first. Let me know, how sending the appeal letter goes, because I am so tempted to send it now. By the way, why is it nobody seems to know the people who actually do the BG? We should start calling or mailing them. My next step before the appeal letter I think, will be to write a formal letter to Eilands office, telling great detail. Oh, and the lady on the phone at DPS said "well, here's the deal, sir" in a very rude voice and almost screamed at me giving the explanation.

Re: March 2009 Applications
I called office of Craig Eiland last week. I was told DPS told them that they would call me and tell me why they are "still" waiting on my BG for Galveston County. DPS never called last week. I have been attempting to call DPS today, the lines stay busy. I called office of Craig Eiland again. I was told, they received a note this morning that DPS would call me "today'. Well their office closes in less than an hour, and I am still waiting on my phone call. 145!

Re: March 2009 Applications
Yep, some reps seem to be doing great. Some reps just don't seem to care (like mine).

Re: March 2009 Applications
144, still waiting on DPS to call me, as to why Galveston County has not finished my BG. Office of Craig Eiland told them to. I doubt I will get the call. What gives? I am thinking more and more about that denial letter already saved on my desktop. I have a good solution though. Fire everyone and hire new.

Re: March 2009 Applications
I downloaded the form onto my desktop. Because a buddy just got his, and applied just before me, I give them until Friday. I know I would please some of you by sending the letter now, but maybe I get a little too kind sometimes.

Re: March 2009 Applications
Harris County does not want anyone to have a CHL. I have other posts about stolen firearms. I spoke with a gun dealer yesterday who had some of his firearms stolen a year or two ago. He said if they are used in a crime, and Houston gets the firearms that I will eventually get the firearms back, but if Harris County does, they will refuse to return them to me. The exact thing happend to him. He even had a buddy who worked for Harris County, but his buddy didn't have enough weight to pull.
