Bagman45, that's great about your son.
I still can't find anything online about SMU removing their "back the Blue" signs, but my wife said she also heard it mentioned on the news Saturday.
I was also thinking about the officer they lost in the flooding, whose body wasn't found for a little bit. I don't recall hearing what they did or are doing or not doing to honor him.

That's just remarkable! I'm searching for something on this online, but can't find anything.carlson1 wrote:It was in FOX 4 last night. They played it off by saying the signs had not be authorized. To me it just shows their real attitude towards LE. More evidence that Miss. Smith made the right decision and I love the fact her Mom has allowed her to make the decision and then stick by her side.C-dub wrote:Where did you see that? Re: Bad SMU Bad
It's a rating on the SMU FB page like movie ratings. Right now, theirs is 2.1 out of a possible 5 stars.Dave2 wrote:2.1 what?nightmare69 wrote:2.1 as of this morning and dropping.

Re: Bad SMU Bad
Victoria has elected to not follow through with their apology invitation and is no longer interested in attending the game at all becaue the underlying disrespect will always be there. Those girls are amazing!!!

They're sticking to the communication breakdown and won't even address the worst part.

It is now down to 2.8 and they may have realized their error.nightmare69 wrote:Take a look at their facebook page. We have dropped their rating to a 2.9 and falling.
This is an excerpt from their page 28 minutes ago.
The invitation was intended to help a family heal, and we very much look forward to Victoria’s first serve in the volleyball match Saturday.

Re: Bad SMU Bad
I and several of my friends on FB have shared it. I don't do twitter, but several of our friends that are also friends of their family do and they have blasted it out there on twitter. FB and this forum are the only two types of social media that I participate in. Well, there are a couple other forums I poke around a little in, but probably don't have a combined post total of 100 in them.

Bad SMU Bad
I thought about putting this in the political forum, but ended up here. Anyway, ...
Some of you may remember that one of the five officers murdered here in Dallas on July 7th was a friend of mine as is his widow and both daughters. Their older daughter and mine attended school together from K-8 and played sports together and I've coached them for several years in those sports. Our daughters are now in their freshman year in high school and don't get to see each other as much because they are in two different schools. His daughter plays volleyball and in order to honor her dad, SMU wanted to have her serve an honorary first serve at one of their upcoming games. Her mom received the following e-mail today.

His daughter had hoped to go to SMU, but doesn't know now. She's very upset.I regret to inform you that we will not be able to go through with the honorary first serve. In the switch between staff members and the handling of volleyball promotions, some information was not forwarded on correctly from (name omitted) to myself and I deeply apologize for that.
The volleyball program was not correctly informed that this would be taking place at the game, and feels that in light of recent events and diversity within the SMU community, that the demonstration could be deemed insensitive.
However, the coaching staff would like to still do something for Victoria and the team. They are invited to stay after the game for an autograph session with the players, if you would like.
Again, they apologize for the inconvenience and late notice, especially in regards to the sensitivity of this matter.
I do hope that you all will still join us on Saturday. If you would like to discuss this further, you can reach me at
