You're comfortable carrying with a round in the chamber, but not at home and you live alone? I just don't get it.
IMHO, keeping the weapon in two different conditions is also a recipe for disaster. All the loading and unloading and pulling of the trigger on a theoretically empty chamber already mentioned and then there might come the day when you need it at home and you grab it forgetting there isn't a round chambered and don't have the time to do so yourself.
Do as you wish, but I hope we never hear about an ND or worse.
