Re: ammo on sale
I stopped by a couple of WalMarts on the way to work this morning and didn't find anything for me, but both of them had a bunch of 7.62x39. Must have been at least 30-40 boxes each. WalMart in Bedford on 121 South at Cheek Sparger and the other on Precinct Line and Harwood. Oh, if only I had something to shoot that with. Oh well, maybe next year.

Re: ammo on sale
That one box thing must be your local WalMart's own policy. The few I've been to in my area are all 3 boxes per customer. But, yes, it's still hit and miss.armanius wrote:You boys (or girls) must be the luckiest folks to run into boxes of non-overpriced ammo! All the Academys and Walmarts are one box only, assuming I can even find one box. Athena Gun Club has ammo most of the time, with restriction of two boxes for most calibers. Last time I was there, it was $18.99 for 9, and $19.99 for 40.

Re: ammo on sale
I saw the guy at the North Carrollton Wal-Mart putting out several boxes of .38 special and .45ACP. The .38 was Federal and the .45 was 50rnd WWB. I'm not sure how many boxes of each as he had just opened the box they were brought to him in. They were both in the same big box. It might have been about 10 boxes each.

Re: ammo on sale
The Marshal turned me on to some 100 round boxes of Federal 230gr at Walmart on sale for $28. I was on my way there anyway to pick up something for dinner and found two boxes for $25.97 each. They followed me home.

Re: ammo on sale
Well, according to our own poll here, most of us carry .45 and 9mm than .40.

Re: ammo on sale
I've been turning into random WalMarts and finding .40 ammo on a semi regular basis. Some boxes of 50 and some of 100. I happened to be in a Sport's Authority yesterday for one thing and tripped across their ammo supply. They had at least a dozen boxes of .40 and .45. I didn't think to look for 9mm, but I wouldn't rush right over there anyway. The .40/50rds was $27.**, Walmart's 100 round price. I asked them if they sell very much and they said they did not. So, I told them that this was the price they could get 100 rounds across the street at WalMart. They didn't seem phased. Oh well. Maybe their keeping it for themselves.

Re: ammo on sale
I was at a WalMart last weekend in Garland and got their last two 100 round boxes of .40S&W for $27 and change each. The guy said, "Well, that's it until the truck shows up next week." So, it seems like they are getting more regular shipments. I think he said about every two weeks they get more ammo, but it lasts for less than a week. That's still better than every couple of months and at their regular prices.

Re: ammo on sale
Timmidsmith72, in his "unverified" Wally Walk thread mentioned the Carrollton Walmart had .40 ammo. Thanks for the tip!
I went by this morning and compared to what they've had over the last six months, they were loaded. There were 10 boxes of .40 FMJ and 12 boxes of .40 JHP. There was also several boxes of .22, 2 boxes of .357 mag, 1 box of 7.62, 2 boxes of 5.56, and 1 box of .44 mag. I got 4 of the .40 FMJ leaving 6 for anyone else than can get there.
The clerk said they don't get that much ammo on their regular trucks anymore. It is mostly delivered by UPS, which I found strange. We talked about them not selling firearms anymore and said that I had heard from someone else that Walmart wasn't going to sell ammo either. He acknowledged that they don't sell firearms anymore, but that it would be a huge mistake for them to stop selling ammo and he hasn't heard of any such plans. Of course, the lower level folks/clerks are going to be the last to know about any such plans, so take that for what it's worth. Might be <2 cents.
