Can these "newer" rifles shoot modern 30-06 ammo or do you still need to stick with the older/lower power stuff?
And your bayonet is the longer one. I still mull over getting one for mine. That's cool that yours was your father's, but I don't know that I really want one or not. I suppose if I have an extra $100 or so burning a hole in my pocket and don't want to leave empty handed from a gun show, I could go ahead and get one, but I don't see that happening real soon. Never say never though.
