Long story short, there is some question if we as TX holders can open carry. One law says we can't and
another says we can. There is a big push for lawmakers to clarify this but until they do, it may be wise to
keep your gun covered thus keeping your butt covered!
Do you know which laws are conflicting? Would you post them here or links to them?

The OSBI, the equivalent to our Texas Rangers, said that it would be legal for those with a CHL from Texas to OC in Oklahoma.
Any link or help on finding an official opinion? It is VERY relevant to my situation here. :tiphat:
Ironically, I don't have a link either. One of the Oklahoma members in the Oklahoma subforum over at OCDO posted that to me when I asked about me being able to OC in Oklahoma. The person claimed to have called the legal office at the OSBI and they said it would be legal and that I could call to verify it myself. I have not called, but I do keep checking the Oklahoma subforum there to see if there is anymore information or official opinion.

That's nice. I'm looking forward to my trip through OK to KS next month even more now. I know it's only the first day, but so far I've read several positive stories from folks OCing today and none of them have been hassled by LE. You just know it'll happen somewhere, but they seem like they're off to a good start.
Does this mean that you are planning to be the non-resident test case? :evil2:
Well, I asked the question over on OCDO in the Oklahoma section and one of them posted the following from OK's reciprocal agreement law.
RECIPROCAL AGREEMENT AUTHORITY

The State of Oklahoma hereby recognizes any valid concealed or unconcealed carry weapons permit or license issued by another state.

Any person entering this state in possession of a firearm authorized for concealed or unconcealed carry upon the authority and license of another state is authorized to continue to carry a concealed or unconcealed firearm and license in this state; provided the license from the other state remains valid. The firearm must either be carried unconcealed or concealed from detection and view, and upon coming in contact with any peace officer of this state, the person must disclose the fact that he or she is in possession of a concealed or unconcealed firearm pursuant to a valid concealed or unconcealed carry weapons permit or license issued in another state. Any person who is twenty-one (21) years of age or older having a valid firearm license from another state may apply for a handgun license in this state immediately upon establishing a residence in this state.
And that they called the OSBI office (I don't know what that is.) and spoke to someone in the legal department that said someone in my situation would be legal to OC in OK under their new law. I will be closely monitoring this for the next several weeks before my trip just in case it turns out that it is not okay. Otherwise, I guess I might be the test case. Unless there is an emergency, I usually only make one stop in OK to fill up with gas and in mid to late December the weather may or may not cooperate enough to OC.

Re: OK - Open Carry to Start Nov 1st.

And IIRC,they didn't issue new licenses to everyone. They basically just struck the word "concealed" from their law and said that everyone that currently has OK's equivalence of a CHL can OC as of November 1, 2012. Right?

I posed the question in the Oklahoma section over on OCDO, but haven't gotten an answer yet.

Some things work well with the "go slow" approach, but sometimes its like ripping off that bandaid...you just have to go for it, IMO.
No, I am saying that no matter what state you live in you will have areas that are gun friendly and those that aren't. Missouri has ALWAYS had open carry and if you walk into a city with it on your hip, even where it's not illegal, you are likely to get the police called on you. Here is an example of an occurrence in St. Charles, MO where it has never been illegal to carry openly

It will happen in Oklahoma too. Some people will not understand the issue, and until they are educated they will be making calls to 911.
Ahh. Disappointed we didn't get to see the end of that when they gave him his gun back and apologized.

Are visitors allowed to take advantage? If so, I might just take the 40 minute drive across the border to see what freedom really feels like.
Yes. States with reciprocity can OC. I'll be headed up in December on my way to Kansas, also an OC state. In the past, once I reached the KS border I remove my cover garment. Now I will do that once I reach OK. So, weather permitting I'll be giving OC a go in OK.

Also is the California one correct? Open carry allowed in unincorporated areas? Something sounds wrong there.

Even long guns open carry is now illegal

Yeah, OC was legal in CA with an unloaded weapon, but Comrade Jerry Brown stopped that nonsense. That was a foolish idea, carry around an unloaded gun. :banghead:
Now it's illegal to OC at all.
