Re: San Antonio breakfast at Rudy's (11.13.21)

Ruark wrote: Mon Nov 15, 2021 10:01 am Glad you had a good time! I ended up at a weekend dentist's office. The tooth, a rear molar, was very painful, even antibiotics and painkillers wouldn't touch it. It had to be extracted, with all that entails. He had to get pretty violent getting the blasted thing out; it wouldn't let go. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Well, hopefully we can do a SA-area meetup again sometime. We need to find a regular meeting place that's agreeable to everybody. Maybe do it every month or two. Take care!
That's good news.

I forgot to mention one other thing. We had no issues with anyone that we were open carrying, even me in my shoulder rig. I had no comments from anyone anywhere in the area the entire trip regarding my firearm. On the plus side, Saturday at break fast I was wearing my "Let's Go Brandon" shirt and received several comments about it. One couple at breakfast wanted to know where they could get one and several thumbs up while out at the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Shop on the Twisted Sisters. I did get a few thumbs up while at a steak house in Bandera, but was sure if it was the shirt or firearm or both. There were several large FJB signs on properties in that entire area, so I wasn't expecting any issues.

Re: San Antonio breakfast at Rudy's (11.13.21)

The surprise for my daughter was a great hit. A huge thank you to Steve and Jay for making it out there. Ruark & OlJames3, I really appreciate the intentions and completely understand that somethings other things take precedence. She loved it and had a great time. I know from Steve's and Jay's she might have seemed a little less than thrilled, but she is NOT a morning person and hadn't fully awakened yet.

For me, I was very pleased to have met to really great guys. I'm sure we all probably have preconceived notions of what someone will be like before you you meet them for the first time after you've talked on the phone or in a forum such as this and I gotta say that Steve caught me a little off guard. From everything he's written on this forum I know he is a really smart person, but had not thought of him being as funny as he is. The entire breakfast I also kept having this nagging feeling I've met Jay before. Either that or reminds me a lot of someone else I know, but can't figure out who. Both guys are very nice and I hope we get to meet up again sometime. Maybe next time I'll sit in on one of ya'lls breakfasts if you get that up and running.

Ruark & OlJames3, you guys missed a great gathering, but sometimes stuff happens. Ruark, I hope you got your issue taken care of.

The rest of the trip for my daughter and me was also a great success. She got a much needed change of scenery at some father/daughter time together. This was her biggest trip on the Wing and managed very well a total of 1,220 miles on this trip. I got some great footage from the cameras installed on the Wing. Even the moment when she dropped on of her gloves along 337 in the rear camera. We went back and found it, not because of the camera, but just sheer luck that if came to a stop in plain sight in the middle of our lane and she didn't wait to tell me about it. The only problem was that there are not a lot of places to turn around on areas of that road and we had to go about 1-1.5 miles before finding a spot and that traffic was also clear.

See y’all for breakfast tomorrow.
Living the dream. I am assuming your on the bike. I was out this morning and like a dummy wore my jeans, a shirt and no jacket. It got cold fast. Years ago I made the best purchase ever. I bought heated pants, jacket and gloves. I can ride my bike in 20 degree weather. You should see the looks I get. Haha... enjoy the riding!
I am getting wimpy as I get old. I don't ride when it is very cold anymore, and the threshold for it has been climbing. But I had a snowmobile suit I used to ride through the Kansas winters way back when. And yeah, riding a bike in the snow got me a lot of crazy looks, not all of them from my wife.
Good morning Steve,

Looks like it’s down to you, me, and my daughter if you’re still in? I also texted you.

Re: San Antonio breakfast at Rudy's (11.13.21)

We made it down here. Great ride down yesterday. We stopped in Killeen to pay respects to a fallen shipmate off mine that passed in 2008 and is in the Killeen Veterans Cemetery.

Today we are riding the Twisted Sisters.

See y’all for breakfast tomorrow.

It looks like a decent size group for the first meeting in S.A. 4-5 isn't too bad and we will all be able to participate in the conversation. That can be difficult with groups of 6-8+.
And everybody will OC, right?
As far as I know, except for my daughter. Have you not OCed yet or much?

Assuming I get back home by Friday, I plan to attend. Black US Army Retired cap, FDE S&W M&P9 M2.0 5" on my hip.
That is correct. Sounds good!

As of right now, who all is showing up besides you, your daughter and me?
I will be there, and possibly Oljames3.
I copied part from the other thread to be less confusing for those attending the North Dallas Rudy's this weekend.

Re: San Antonio breakfast at Rudy's (11.13.21)

Just over a week out and the weather is projected to be BEAUTIFUL. Right around 70+/-3 degrees and sunny for highs and lows in the 40's. The lows aren't too bad since I have heated seats and grips. Shaping up to be a great trip.

I can't wait to meet a few of you guys.

I am pretty sure you are just fine at Rudy's and many other places. There would be a few places that are off limits to CC, but Rudy's is good to go. Open or concealed is fine.

Ruark wrote: Tue Oct 26, 2021 9:01 am All sounds good, I just didn't want to be the only one open carrying. Lots of liberal urban yuppies in that area....
I figured, but have there been any issues with that? Maybe things in the local news that we wouldn't hear about up here? Some soccer mom uncomfortable with open carrier and forces business to put up signs or anything like that?

We will be riding or driving down on Thursday, the 11th. Riding the Twisted Sisters on Friday and going home on Sunday.

We haven't seen any up here either. However, being so close to SA I didn't know what the atmosphere was like for normally friendly 2A businesses elsewhere.

There is still time for others to see this thread and join us. Hopefully at least Ruark and JMorris can make it, but even if it is just us three it will still be a great breakfast. My daughter really likes coming with me when she can to Rudy's to see everyone. This will be a nice surprise for her as long as she's not spying on me here.

Re: San Antonio breakfast at Rudy's (11.13.21)

Good evening again everyone,

We're about 2.5 weeks out and the trip is still on. I'm going to try and take my daughter out for a ride this Friday for about 2-2.5 hours and she how she does. I haven't told her yet, but if she doesn't think she's up for it on the bike I'm going to take her anyway in my truck. She needs the time off. I think for that reason and since we will have spent much of the previous two days riding and we will also on Sunday headed home, I'd like to meet for breakfast at the #1 spot in Leon Springs at 0900.

Of course, the other thing to consider is whether or not they are posted 30.06, 30.07, or anything else now that CC has gone into effect. Ruark, since you might be the closest one to this location and travel through there, do you know if they are posted at all?

I would say the same (I'm in Cibolo) but you would pick a day that I have a class scheduled. Next time.
Sorry.

We have limited options since we're only going to be in the area for two days. Arrive Thursday afternoon and head back home Sunday morning. Friday we already have plans, so Saturday morning is our only option since we also have other plans Saturday afternoon.
