Moving out of state -- TX CHL still valid?
If I move out of state and change my address to an out-of-state address, does my TX CHL automatically become void? The statutes are silent on this...

Re: Teacher with CHL, gun in the car?
The gun is useless in the car anyways. Only if you and your car magically drop into the parking lot from above. I don't know about you, but I can't plan in advance when someone will try to do me some wrong while driving to/from school. Granted, the gun is useless in the car while I'm not in it, but...

Re: Houston - who carries Kahr locally?
Jim Pruett's Guns & Ammo, 10490 Huffmeister Road. Bought my CW9 there, price was very reasonable. Loved it so much I now own a PM9 as well. Both work great for IWB carry. Recoil is rather snappy though (as would be expected). Very stiff spring; something to consider especially if purchasing for ...

Re: Jury duty -- do we check our 2A rights at the door?
Thanks for all the input. As much as I abhor the idea of leaving a firearm in my vehicle, I am much more adverse to the idea of driving into downtown Dallas unarmed. I like the idea of a "cheap" concealed carry weapon for such occasions. Might just have to go that route!

Neal Stephenson is pro-2A
Besides writing some excellent geek fiction ( Snow Crash , anyone?) Neal Stephenson is an ardent 2A supporter. His latest novel, REAMDE, is not only a good read if you're into geek/hacker fiction, but it's obvious from the first 50 pages that this is a writer who is obviously not shy about his pro-g...

Jury duty -- do we check our 2A rights at the door?
I've been summoned to jury duty at the George Allen Courts Building in downtown Dallas. Would it be safe to assume there are no lockers at the courthouse to check in a CHL weapon? There is of course nothing on the website (and I doubted there would be). Since I refuse to ride DART unarmed, I guess m...

Garland gun range target of media smear campaign
One can't read this recent article without grimacing in pain at some of the blatant lies that are being perpetuated by the media. Here are some of the more blatantly false quotes that seem to stretch the limits of journalistic integrity: "On a typical Saturday morning, it sounds like a war zone...

Re: CHL-friendly credit union in Dallas area?
Just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a convenient branch location for the most viable suggestions, so I ended up going with ResourceOne. No gunbuster/30.06 signs, great service.

CHL-friendly credit union in Dallas area?
My current CU (Texans) decided that since they are in receivership, they are free to screw over their long-time customers by charging an outrageous $25/month service fee on business checking accounts. I have an America's CU local to me, but their branch is 30.06-posted, so I won't be doing business ...

Re: What to do after use of concealed handgun
Since this thread has been resurrected, just thought I'd clarify a statement made earlier in the thread: The basics: "I was in fear for my life," Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the magic words (if you feel so compelled to make a statement) "I shot to stop the threat"...

Re: CHL Website Resource
I'm a software developer too, and while scratching the development itch is a good thing, do we really need another 30.06 site? Russell has made great strides in making his site the "go to" site for 30.06. Now you're asking us to support two sites? I don't think so. Why don't you focus your...

Re: Arlington School Board considers concealed carry
I don't quite understand why our state leaders value the lives of our school-age children less than they do with our college-age children. So our state legislature will consider a bill to protect our college students, but simply ignore our younger charges. Maybe because they are expendable? That the...

Re: Another "school-sponsored event" question
I think you have to consider PC 46.035(b)(2): (2) on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place, unless the license holder is a participant in the event and a handgun is used in the event; Regardless of sponsorship, this cou...
