Re: College republicans target Sen. Ogden over SB 354

I'm also in Ogden's district. I followed this bill very carefully last session too. I passed out flyers to friends and coworkers, even strangers urging support for both campus and parking lot carry. Last session campus carry passed the Senate, but it never got voted on in the House. It would have easily passed the House too if it had just gotten a chance to be voted on. Well even though it passed the Senate last time, Ogden voted against it then too.

I guess lots of people didn't notice. I sure told everyone who would listen. I called and faxed and email several times last session as well as this session. He is NOT a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I did not vote for him last november. I will not vote for him if he runs in the future.

He was also the one who INSISTED that an amendment be added to the Parking lot carry bill last session that excluded the Petroleum industry from the law entirely. It ended up being a moot point in the end because the bill never passed the House. Thankfully this time the Senate version of Parking Lot carry didn't get such an amendment. I heard the House version does have an amendment for Petroleum companies, however. Thankfully the amendment does not prevent carry of handguns by license holders in their cars, but it does prevent rifles and shotguns in cars. It'll be interesting to see if that amendment stays intact in the final version.
