Re: AR15 Scope advice
As another solution, Yankee Hill makes a riser for your specific purpose, that will raise the scope another 1/2 inch, so that your field of view is iron-sight-free. I used one of these on my Bushmaster M4, and although my optic of choice was an EOTech 512, it'll probably work with your scope too. I ...

Re: Opinions on Pocket Guns (aka fake guns...)
My summertime carry is my little LCP in a right front pocket holster; here in the Metroplex it just gets too hot to deal with belt holsters and the problem of covering it up (IMO). The little gun has eaten everything I've fed it, and (with regular practice) it's not a problem to hit center of mass a...

Re: Why I carry, even in the house
Don't need a mechanical/electronic alarm - my miniature schnauzer is much more attuned to strange noises than most sensors; she sleeps in the bed with me, gets very loud very quickly when anything goes bump in the night, and although she hasn't (thankfully) been tested, I'm sure she would be an exce...

Re: Your worst Gun
OK, my previous post said that the Walther PPK was the worst gun I've ever owned, but I finally took it to the range today, and it appears that S&W did actually fix the problem that caused all the FTFs. I put about 70 rnds through it, including some Gold Dots, and had no problems. However, I rea...

Re: Gun Safety Rules
Listen to this Alpine Range People: The Alpine Range (Fort Worth, TX) has had problems in the past. I have had problems where people feel that they are above the rules, that they can stay at the shooting rail, that they can continue to load their magazines while people are downrange, and if you tell...

Re: Introduce yourself
Just saw this post, and it seems like a good idea. I'm "donh", and I'm a retired avionics engineer, from Lockheed Martin - I led the design/coding work for the F-16 HUD for the Modular Mission Computer, and retired with a really sweetheart deal at age 60 (I'm now 61.9). I was raised with g...

Re: Your worst Gun
In reply to HankB: I have to tell you that my Kahr PM9 is now my most reliable carry; I have put over a thousand rounds through it with nary a FTF/FTE. I think yours may be a previous generation; bought mine about a year ago (summer 2009), and haven't had a problem with it, except for one FTF at abo...

Re: Your worst Gun
The Walther PPK that I bought last year at The Gun Store in Weatherford, TX. Took it to the range and put about 200 rounds through it, it FTF'ed and FTE'd at least once in every 6rnd magazine. Sent it off to S&W March, 2009, got it back January, 2010, and it still FTF's and FTE's just as bad as ...

Re: Concealed in the Car
Hold on JJVP, I think you should always present your CHL with your DL; the question was whether you needed to volunteer the information that, while you were not carrying on your person, you did have a gun concealed in your car. (Say I'm splitting hairs if you will (I'm an engineer, after all), but I...

Hope this works - this is my first time adding pictures here. I'm not sure how to add labels for each pic, so: Wintertime carry: Kahr PM9 in Mitch Rosen holster Summertime carry: ElsiePea in pocket holster Nightstand companion: Glock 17L, CTC laser, Streamlight TLR-1, 30rnd mag http://i863.photobuck...

Re: Concealed in the Car
Part of the reason I asked the question is that my CHL instructor (Bill Waybourn at Alpine Gun Range, Fort Worth) was adamant that, if you didn't have a CHL, and you were legally carrying in the console, you have no obligation to provide that information unless specifically asked.

Concealed in the Car
If you're pulled over for, say, speeding, and you happen to not be carrying on your person, but do have a gun in your console, what information do you have to provide? When you hand the officer your DL and CHL, I assume he/she will ask if you are carrying. If you don't have a gun on your body, do yo...

USA1, thanks very much - that was excellent information, and I would bet it cleared things up for a lot of people.
