If you must go, my suggestion is to stay in a hotel in Northern Virginia. Then you're legal as long as you don't take it into DC (or Maryland) but have it for the trip, assuming you're driving. Ideally, stay in a NoVa hotel near a metro stop, and you won't have to worry about sanitizing your vehicle, or finding parking in the district .

Just remember most of the worthwhile sights are shut down right now because of The Obambam Tantrum.
