So, after hearing yesterday that the original sponsor (Driver?) was going to file the bill again, today I hear that it's not got a chance. The reporter implied that this is a widespread feeling. Usually WOAI is pretty balanced, but the last couple of days they have been steering way left on this.
According to my Senator, Dan Patrick, it is very much alive, and he very much supports it
