You could actually possibly even create "4 rules of a deadly force scenario" based on that, and possibly some other things.
1: Your weapon will malfunction.
2: The BG will fire at you first.
3: There will be more then one armed BG.
4: You will have no cover.
Just like the 4 rules of gun safety, I think if you always kept those things on your mind, you would be better apt to handle them if they did happen.
Although, on the failure issue... it's yet another reason to carry L&L. Can't Have a FTF on your first round if it's already chambered

You'll at least get 1 shot off.
