tekboi wrote:Its Tuesday guys... Im following up my post about how long it was taking... I just logged on to the dps site and i went to do some other paperwork i was working on. I was really expecting it to say processing application still and I was trying to stave off the disappointment. However, to my complete suprise, It said Application COMPLETE!! Licsense Issued WoOOHOOoooOO.. First order of business when i get home is long awaited wallywalk :) :woohoo
If it just turned to "Application Complete" then I'm guessing you don't have the plastic yet?

If so, you cannot carry without the actual plastic. So don't be going wally-walking without it! :thumbs2:

That's a ridiculous amount of time to be waiting.

Re: February Applications

I seem to recall in reading past stories and DPS phone conversations, that they change it when they Receive the Plastic back from the printer and it is verified correct, and are preparing to mail it out.

Specifically I believe this was discussed when a 'bad batch' of printed licenses had to be re-printed a few months ago. They never changed from 'processing application' as the returned plastic was never accepted. They only changed once the plastic was re-done, and accepted by DPS.

Contacted Dan Patrick my State Senator by email on June 26 and asked for help getting Harris County applications processed sooner. Been two weeks and haven't heard from him except that email was received.
Ah! A Fellow District 7 resident. I too have contacted Senator Patrick's office. Spoke to a nice staffer there. He seems to be well aware if the problem in Austin, and is keeping an active list of his constituents with issues.

Ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck holster, 5/28, told it would take 3 weeks, received it 6/8, That's Kool, don't think I'm gonna keep it, the clips are too long and are exposed, otherwise I like it.

Cman,

We don't count 'business days' because the law doesnt specify 'business days' in regard to processing times, it just specifies 'days'.
We count just plain days. Might want to adjust your number in that case :)

Called DPS this afternoon to see how it was going. Their response was that they are waiting on background checks from Brazos County still. I know everybody is impatient, but Brazos Co. is nowhere the size of Harris. I'm stepping off the box now.

Also, does anybody know this answer. I have posted before that I had a Disorderly Conduct for fighting in front of my house as a sophomore at Baylor which was dismissed because of self-defense. Also, same year had a Public Intoxication that was also dismissed. I talked to a county clerk and they said that I would still have a criminal record because I didn't get them expunged, and that most likely I would be denied because of a violent background. Is that true and should just discount this whole process of waiting.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.
Dismissed is dismissed as far as CHL is concerned.
You either have to have been Convicted, or taken some sort of Deferred Adjudication bargain to be ineligible.
