Re: April 2009 Applications

USA1 said. "if they really wanted to ,they could have the application complete and plastic in the mail in only a few days
after they get back the background check ."

I agree. I am sure the back ground check is different from the check done when one goes in to buy a gun, but how long does it really take to do a back ground check on any one person? From start to finish.
You have supplied your name, address, work place, TDL, finger prints, everything about you, including a picture. All they must do is scan your prints and type in your name.
How far do they go back? Until I was born?
Once this is completed, they could print the license right there, slip it in an envelope, and mail it. Why send it off to some outsource to have this done? Many states print your drivers license right in front of you when you renew them. So why not Texas on the CHL?

Re: April 2009 Applications

When you hit 90 days or three months, which ever you want to call it, it is time to start contacting your state representative, e-mailing DPS, do what ever comes to mind. But get people to talking and bringing up your name. A squeaky wheel gets greased. I sent so many e-mail's, they were e-mailing me, asking if I had heard anything or received my license. And they even contacted me this past Saturday. So they do listen. As long as you DO NOT get testy. Keep cool. They are there to help you, and they will. Just keep it civil.

Re: April 2009 Applications

Well, after getting the e-mail Saturday stating "The application is near completion. Thank you for your continued patience." my status has now changed to "Application complete-license issued or certificate active" .
Who knows what causes them to do the things they do.
Tuesday I get a phone call saying my bc is done and being sent to printer, Saturday get e-mail stating near completion.
At least it is going in the right direction, I guess.

Re: April 2009 Applications

I tell you what. These people never cease to amaze me. Tuesday, I got a phone call from DPS stating my app. has been completed and I should receive by Friday. Saturday, I receive this.

"The application is near completion. Thank you for your continued patience."

Does the right hand know what the left hand is doing? :headscratch

Went for a bike ride to Galveston Saturday, so didn't get to the post office. Will go later this morning. Hope license is there, so I can e-mail back to this person, and ask them, if they know what is going on. :confused5

Re: April 2009 Applications

Now that is wild. Everyone seems to being told the same thing and the DPS officer who called me yesterday, said mine would be in the mail to me before Friday this week. Maybe because I had my Rep. call and start asking questions? Maybe they pulled mine off the bottom of the stack to work on it. Who knows. :confused5 :headscratch

Re: April 2009 Applications

Yes it surprised me too. I really expected it to take another couple weeks, after seeing some with the dates being posted on here. But one thing for sure, I won't let this one expire, like I did my first one 8 years ago.
Dexdahex, looks like you may be getting the call in a couple days yourself. By you time lines, you are only three days behind me.

Re: April 2009 Applications

Saturday night my truck wheels were stolen in my driveway. Under a street light. Found it sitting on blocks Sunday morning. Called police and made a report. Also had him run my license and it showed no CHL yet. Will be 17 weeks this Wednesday. I think it is time to request a hearing. Maybe this will light a fire under somebodies butt. :mad5

Re: April 2009 Applications

saber said, About 13 weeks from classroom to Wal Mart.

Well maybe for you in the Dallas area. Here in Harris county it has been 16 weeks already and still processing application.
Did get an e-mail from a lady from Debbie Riddle's office, saying she was calling dps. She wanted my application number. We will see what this gets me. Most likely an e-mail from dps stating how backed up they are. Excuses are like [abbreviated profanity deleted.], everybodys got one. Harris county applicants are tired of hearing excuses. We want results. This is what I get for letting mine expire in 2002. :totap:

Re: April 2009 Applications

So, if Harris county hired 35 more people to do back ground checks, things should go 35 times faster. Correct? Or does this give the one back ground checker 35 more people to play golf with? Because it seems if 35 more people were hired, we would be seeing more Harris county applications being approved. :rules:
