Re: New Patrol Rifle time

I don't think you will be able to use anything lighter than 55 grain such as some varmit loads. I had asked my co-worker about the twist rate and he said he didn't notice any difference. I can't remember the exact ranges he was shooting but I know there was a 300 in there.

Re: New Patrol Rifle time

The 1:7 would be the twist rate to go. It will stabilize the heavier rounds better. The heavier rounds have better penetration. One of the guys at work was in the Army for a long period of time and he is an avid shooter. He didn't notice much if any difference using the lighter 55 grain rounds or the heavier 62 grain rounds through the 1:7 twist rate barrel. With the faster twist you can use the 77 grain open tipped rounds.

Yeah, except the vast majority of the posters on that board are a bunch of arrogant, condescending asshats. They love to hold up "objective standards" for M-4's. However, they hate on PSA because "they haven't been around long enough to be trusted" even though they meet the same standards as other "tier 1" brands. They also trash Spikes Tactical because of the logos, etc.

They have a complete inability to acknowledge that the vast majority of M-4 owners don't need or want a battle rifle, and love to tell anyone that doesn't own a BCM, Colt, DD, Noveske or LaRue that their rifle is crap, they've wasted money, and that they should pawn their no-good rifle off on someone else and get something that is "G2G" ASAP, or else.

There might be some good info on that sight, but having to wade through the arrogant attitudes of most of the posters doesn't make it worth finding.
I like that sight because I'm in the market for an M4 and I want something a step up from a plinker. I find M4 carbine to be a better and more mature sight than ar15.com

Re: New Patrol Rifle time

How about a Bravo Company USA mid length? They make good rifles that are considered tier one rifles. From what I have read they also have good customer service.
edit: Plus they are in the same price range as the Colt. I have also seen on Ranier Arms webpage a nice Daniel Defense midlength for 1200.
