Re: April 2009 Applications
I took my class 4 Apr, mailed the packet 6 Apr and just got my PIN today. I had called DPS and they said that they were recieving a high volume of applications. They said that it generally takes 60 days for the status to flip to "Processing Application", so you should get them soon. She sa...

Re: April 2009 Applications
I mailed mine in on 6 Apr also. Haven't recieved a PIN either. I called to see how I can confirm that they even recieved the application, and they said to give it until the end of May. I'll wait 'till then and call again. I know they're really backlogged, but it seems there could be an easier way to...

Re: Question on holsters - clip vs. belt straps
Great...thanks a lot for the input. The straps seem more secure to me. I can't find a holster with belts straps and a sweatgaurd. Is a sweatgaurd that big of a deal as far as comfort? I'm mostly in jeans/shorts and a t-shirt, and really don't want to have to layer up with an undershirt...Texas is ho...

Question on holsters - clip vs. belt straps
Need some advise. I am searching for a decent & cheap IWB holster, but have a question about the clip/belt straps. I carry a Glock 27 at 1:00 or 2:00 and mostly wear untucked t-shirts. I know heat is a slight issue in South Texas, so I have been told that a built in sweatgaurd is a must. Does an...

Shooting Glock27
Need some help. I am used to shooting large frame autos and recently bought a Glock 27 for CHL. I am having problems at the range with it. The problems is certainly not the Glock's...it's user error. The Glock is so small that it has pretty good recoil. I'm hitting the target to the left, and don't ...

Re: April 2009 Applications
Well, I'm in the April club as well. Took the course on 4 Apr, and submitted my paperwork on the 6th. Haven't heard anything, and guess I don't really expect to, for a while. Since I'm active duty military, I didn't have to pay any fees through the state, so the fact that they got $00.00 from me wil...

Re: New to CHL--Need Help
Wow...thanks again everyone for all the info. I'll keep looking at holsters and hopefully find the right one without filling up the old "holster drawer". I've seen a ton of IWB holsters that just have the clip, but the ones with the snaps that go around the belt seem more secure. Anyone ha...

Re: CHL & Motorcycles
flb_78, Thanks for the info. Will certainly keep that in mind. Since I have found some sccotertrash, do you have any info on motorcycle concealment vests? I've heard of them, but can't find any details. I heard that they run about $80 and can easily conceal large frame autos. Please let me know if y...

CHL & Motorcycles
Have some questions that weren't even thought of in CHL class. I know the Castle doctrine allows you to carry a loaded weapon in your vehicle as an extension of your residence without a CHL. What about on a scooter? Also, our instructor told us that a CHL holder must leave the weapon secured in the ...

Re: New to CHL--Need Help
Holy crap. Thanks for all the info...seriously. I am new enough at this and probably would have made alot of bad purchases. I know finding a holster I like that is comfortable for long periods of time is trial and error, so I'll begin filling up that holster drawer. Seriously, Thanks to all for the ...

New to CHL--Need Help
Hey Everyone, Just joined the site after reading a lot of good info, but I need some serious help. I recently went through the CHL course (still waiting on my license) and need advise. Before I went to the course, I bought a Beretta Storm .40 and absolutely love it. By far, it is the best shootong p...
