Talked to DPS this morning and the only thing they are waiting on is Harris County.

I have called field office after field office and nobody has an answer to the process of what a field office has to do to fufill a background check.

Not to fear by the end of this day I will know exactly what pile in what Field Office my background check is sitting and exactly every ounce of paper work that goes into a background check for Harris County.

I am on a mission for all Harris County applicants.

Here is an example. My application was mailed perfect no errors, I have lived in the same house for five years, had the same job for five years, and I have absolutely no criminal record, i served my country honorably, dont owe any child support or taxes.

So that tells me this is absoutely the fault of Harris County.
Any news yet?

MBGuy wrote:I think the law has that renewals shouldn't take longer than 45 days, while new apps shouldn't take longer than 90. If they actually have seperate renewal and new piles of apps, I don't know.

I'm also thinking that maybe applying online first gets the background check done, whereas if you do it all at the same time by using the instructors package you lose that headstart.

But I'm just guessing.....
I applied online and talked to DPS when they started processing mine. She said the fingerprints and background check went out on the same day which was the day mine turned to Processing Application. They don't start anything until the day it turns to Processing. :txflag:

Re: April 2009 Applications

I was hoping to be in processing status by now. I sent a letter to DPS asking for some information. That will probably take 2 weeks for a reply. :banghead:

Re: April 2009 Applications

Hello everyone! I emailed DPS and asked for my PIN. They responded with my PIN and I am waiting with the rest of you for my status to change to processing. They said it takes 4-6 weeks to show received. Oh well...spending lots of time searching for ammo and shooting up the ammo I have. By the time my plastic comes in I should be fully practiced up and ready to safely carry. When I picked up my last handgun at my FFL they said my background check was very fast. They said my CHL should be processed fast. Does that sound right or does it not matter. I know my background check should go fast as I have never had any loans, back taxes, back child support, etc. and have lived in my residence for well over the 5 years. Would that matter or does everyone basically take the same time barring things that require an explanation? TTYL!
P.S. Join the NRA!!! :txflag:
