Hoi
I think a weekend campout thing at Tac-pro would be nice either in the spring or fall.

Re: DFW get-together TODAY (Sat) @ Elm Fork - See you there!
I think Hoi Polloi did a great job at setting this up. I would like to thank her again, her husband and TAM. Husband polloi helped my wife shoot a couple mags from my .45 while I watched the kid and TAM let my wife shoot some from his .380. Sorry I could not stay for lunch had errands to run up in Plano.
Sadly on my way to Elm Fork I was pulled over by Irvings finest for doing 75 in a 60. He was a very formal guy and was not happy with me when he return to my car I had my arms crossed and hands were not visible(wife was lecturing me about speeding) so he stood there and gave me a stern look until I realized why, his comment was "you already told me you have a gun don't make me more nervous, which is understandable. So now I have a fine to take care of. Oh and to make matters worse today was my wifes birthday and guess what I forgot.

Otherwise I'll be at Elm Fork....just can't pass up the money, times being what they are and all......

I'm going to cut off voting for a restaurant on Thursday afternoon at 4 PM so I can give the restaurant enough advance notice. If I call the winner and they have a problem with it, I'll just use the other as a back up. I have 5 votes for Mercado Juarez and 3 votes for Genghis Grill so far.
I know there's no way we could make breakfast, as much as I'd like to. We're planning to go to lunch.
I'll have name tags and sharpies available. Does anyone have a source for some scrap paper or little note pads or anything like that? It would be good to be able to jot things down while there.

I thought I read they had a play area there for kids.Excaliber wrote:You may want to reconsider bringing the infant. The range is outdoors and parking is close to the firing line. I have been having the same issues. I assumed t was because they had my esophagus all jerked around to get to my disks. It is getting better, but I have to think before swallowing or it goes down the wrong way.
Do you mean Grapevine Mills Mall when you say GV mall?

Re: DFW get-together - 9 AM Oct 2 @ Elm Fork - Taking Headco
My life is basically back to normal so relax for now. I have complete relief after the operation with a little limit in neck movement no biggie. The only problem I have since the operation is sometime I wake up in the middle of the night and can not get air in my lungs or choke on a spec of food or water and have trouble getting air down the pipe this could be related to the operation or not, the VA did a swallow study which they say looked normal except for the ulcers in my stomach, the Dr thought maybe it was anxiety attack I have issue with that line as what anxiety do you have when your asleep, the anxiety comes from not breathing and another Dr thought it was sleep apnea.03Lightningrocks wrote:OK... you fellers are not making me feel any better. For gods sake... tell me these things don't just keep getting worse for everyone. I was told by my Doctor I could go back to weight lifting and a normal life after this. I have not been able to work out since April because of this.
Just to keep this on topic is anyone interested in getting together for breakfast before the the gathering at 9:00. The Cracker Barrel by GV mall comes to mind.

Re: DFW get-together - 9 AM Oct 2 @ Elm Fork - Taking Headco
For me it was my C6-C7 and now after 8 years C5 is showing some degeneration due to the added stress from having C6&C7 fused. I would imagine your L3 will get the same results, but the Dr said I did not need to worry for a long time. The Annoyed Man wrote:I don't know about the neck, but I had the disc removed and vertebrae fused at L4/L5. I've never fully recovered, but I am also better off than I was before the surgery, so I guess I don't have any regrets.

Re: DFW get-together - Come one, come all!
It looks like you had the same operation I did, Did you get a disk removed and vertebrae fused? I could not talk clear for 3 months. I was 36 when I had this done so my recovery was uneventful. That neck brace was the biggest problem I had well that and trying to find parking I didn't need to reverse out of. I had a continuous pain in my neck for about 9 months before the operation and numbness and tingling in my left had, after surgery it was all gone.03Lightningrocks wrote:The Doctor lied to me. They all said it wouldn't be all that bad. I woke up with tubes coming out of places that shouldn't have tubes. I hurt like nothing I could ever imagine. I was pounding the heck out of the morphine drip but they failed to mention it only dispenses pain medication every 15 minutes no matter how many times you push it. I couldn't eat or drink for a week. I had to let ice melt in my mouth for moisture. Yeah.... They won't fool me again. It still hurts but the arm and hand paralysis that was starting has stopped and even began to reverse. I guess they got the disks repaired. I have been told to expect 90% recovery and no more issues with nerves getting pinched by disks for at least 20-30 years. That works for me. For a while there I thought I was done for...LOL. Four more weeks in this neck brace might make me crazy(er).Oldgringo wrote:I've been wonderin' if you were still with us?03Lightningrocks wrote:The Annoyed Man wrote:Saturdays work best for me, as I often have church obligations on Sundays that take a lot of my time. Location-wise, I'm for Elm Fork, although Alpine would be OK. I categorically refuse to spend another penny ever again at Quail Creek.
I can bring the following and will let people try them:
I may need help with the ammo - especially the .44 magnum - if there are a lot of people interested. Also, I have no .380 on hand, so if you want to shoot either the Colt or the Keltec, bring your own.
- 5" Springfield Loaded .45 ACP
- 3" Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II .45 ACP
- 4" Kimber Pro Raptor .45 ACP
- 5" Taurus PT1911 .45 ACP
- S&W Full sized M&P45 .45 ACP
- Glock 19 9mm
- S&W 642 .38 Special
- S&W 640 .357 magnum
- S&W M&P340 .357 magnum
- Colt Government .380
- S&W Model 29 .44 magnum
- Ruger 4.5" 22/45 Mark III Hunter .22 LR
- AND a Keltec P3AT, in case anyone is considering buying one and needs to be dissuaded ( ).
Geeze.... I could just show up with my ammo and shoot TAM's guns. then I don't have to clean mine. Seriously though, I am not thinking I can shoot yet. My surgery on my neck was two Tuesdays ago. I am in a neck brace but I don't know if shooting a gun would cause the bones that are trying to grow together to split apart. I will ask my Doctor on my Monday appointment. This really sounds fun.
I am a maybe unless I get a 100% OK from the Dr.
