Yep, but you never hear anyone advocating legislation to "cut some slack" for the trashmen or the truckers.

Where would you be without someone to take away your garbage or bring you the stuff to make garbage from?

I got a warning for being the only other vehicle on the road (aka speeding with no actual speed filled in, probably 3-4 over) last night, and the trooper never even asked if I was carrying.

Should I report him for failing to follow this "policy?" Granted, I'd been out to our land, so it was one of those times when, if he'd asked about weapons in the car, I would have had to send him back to his car for a bigger piece of paper :evil2:

More to the point, car stereos are stolen more often than guns, so why aren't they checking the SN of any aftermarket stereos they encounter?

Then why isn't there a 10-code for it? DPS won't say phone call or drunk because those have 10-codes, but they're perfectly happy to broadcast CHL status in plain English for anybody with a $50 scanner.

I suspect if I bothered to keep a pad and pen by the scanner, I could have a list of more than half this county's CHLs within a year or two.

So you're saying queries aren't logged at all? If they are, then a databse of the information is just a perl script away.
