Re: Dog attack and CHL
I've seen an insane cat run up one leg of a guy's shorts and down the other, shredding all the way. He handled it well, and launched the furball before it touched the ground, but he was still a bloody mess. I doubt I could draw from a gunslinger rig in the time it took for the damage to be done.mr.72 wrote:If you've ever gotten into it with even a full-grown tom cat that was actually on the offensive and not just trying to escape you were probably be shocked at just how strong and ferocious even a little cat can be.

Re: Dog attack and CHL
Problem: in this case, my weak hand is down its throat; right in line with the best target area. I'm not sure a close-range gunshot wound is better than continuing to wrestle with the dog after gaining partial control of its teeth.Russell wrote:- Using your weak hand, make a fist AND TURN YOUR HAND SIDEWAYS so that your thumb is on top of your hand, then jam it down its mouth. It is going to hurt like the dickens when it starts crunching down, but at least it is not grabbing onto something that is vital to your survival, and you are able to control it this way.
- From here, you can either draw and fire if the dog is mostly stationary. If it is going too wild to where it is not sitting still long enough to be able to make a clean shot:
Depending on the breed, you might be able to break its neck or skull at this point, or start bashing the lower jaw in hopes of breaking that, (pistol whipping being infinitely better than bare-hand attacks for this) but I'd have to say that, unless you can get the gun out in time to let it bite that instead, you're not going to have a good opportunity to shoot it until you can throw or kick it clear of you.
