Re: May 2009 Applications
"Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"
Just checked my application on line - and it's complete!
I guess I get to quit checking the DPS site and move on to the mailbox instead!

Re: May 2009 Applications - Being Printed?
Seeing all these May applications being completed had me a little impatient. Not to mention the June and July apps being completed too! So I called DPS last week and was told my application was being reviewed. I was forwarded to the reviewer's voicemail and told to wait 48 hours for a response. Having received no response I called again today and was told that my license had been sent for printing. After confirming that this means I'm approved, I asked how long until I recieve it. I was told that it could take up to a month. I asked about the web site still stating "processing application" and was told that will not change until the license is in the mail.
While I don't have any plastic yet I'm pleased that it's approved and progress is being made. I'm hoping that the month estimate was deliberately pessimistic so I'm not calling them every other day.

Re: May 2009 Applications
I took my application down to the DPS office in Austin today with a cashiers check.
They were very helpful and polite. The guy at the front desk checked that I had included everything needed and issued a receipt. I asked him about getting the PIN number and he told me it would be mailed to me? I also asked about the likely timescale for the approval. He stated it depended on the jurisdictions that I have lived in as they will have to respond. I've only lived in one (Williamson County) so hopeful that will help. He estimated 3-4 months but offered no assurances.
There was one other CHL applicant there who had been waiting for 5 months and had gone there to try make sure they had all the needed paperwork.
At least the ball is now rolling.
