Re: Ruger vs marlin PCC's
The ,45 version of the Marlin is hard on stocks the ones that I have seen that were used, had the stocks split behind the receiver. Also there are no parts. Marlin stopped making them a long time ago, and now Marlin is owned by Ruger.

Re: Rescued a forlorn old girl today
Make sure that you clean it with a water based cleaner if you shoot old military ammo as it is corrosive primed. Unlike the Russian version it holds one more round.

Re: Scored a hunting trip. What rifle
What ever you get, make sure that you can shoot it without flinching, the old 06 will do the job, I used to work for a man that used a Savage 99 in .300 Savage to kill Moose in Canada, and he killed some big ones. As for bear, use a good bullet and put it where it counts.

Your NRA membership card is the only ticket that you need, and you do not need to be a life member to attend

Some of the early Winchester trappers have been declared courious and relics and no longer need to be registered I doubt that the shotgun is on that list.

Re: Freedom Amunition fined by FAA for Hazmat Shippment
You can take ammunition on most commercial flights, most have a weight limit, and it must be declared. The last that I heard it was not Haz mat. You can order it shipped to your house, and it is not labeled with a haz mat sticker just orm-d.

Re: correct mauser ammo?
All of the 98 actions use js ammo only the 1888 commission rifles use the small bore,.318 and some of them were reamed but not rebarreld to use the .323 size and are so marked with an S on the barrel ahead of the action.
