It was apparently owned by a "colorful" character and is no longer in business. I'm in San Antonio a couple of times a week - my best bet may be Bass Pro Shop. $10 per half hour, but $100/year. I don't know how hard it is to get range time though.
Not sure which route you take to San Antonio (I-35 or US 281), but if you go the I-35 route there a decent outdoor range in the general vicinity of the horse track. Shot there once with a buddy of mine. Nice covered shooting area. Don't remember anyone being too overbearing as far as range rules, but also wasn't a lawless type place where you'd be afraid the nitwit next to you with the Mac 10 is gonna ask you "what's wrong with my gun" while pointing it at you :nono:

Thats my retirement plan right there. :thumbs2:

If you're a study of signs, you'll note their rules changed from "no rapid fire, one second per round" to "rapid fire on approval of range officer" recently. I haven't heard "Who's the Cowboy!" yelled in quite some time. :fire

Near 290 somwewhere there's also this which you might strongly consider

OH yeah! Always forget about ARC. Have never been there, but that wouldn't be a bad drive at all from Dripping Springs.

Never been a big fan of indoor ranges. Inhaling all the lead/smoke/ect cant be good for you
So where do you shoot instead? I'd love to find someplace cheaper.
From Dripping Springs, only other place I know of is Lone Star in Lockhart, which isn't exactly convenient. Eagle Peak near Leander/Jonestown is OK, and there is Astro north of Liberty Hill, but both of those are an hour-plus drive from Dripping Springs. Is there not anything out west of Dripping Springs, on 290 toward Johnson City? Or maybe something south, Driftwood or further? If not, someone should seriously consider opening a place out that way.

The equipment needed for an indoor range (plus the cost of the building itself, and opperating lights, HVAC etc) is CONSIDERABLY more than an outdoor range, which is basically just some lumber, dirt, and constructions costs - much of which can be DIY if you know how and have/rent the right equipment.

The bullet traps, mechanical target pulley systems, and air filtration systems of an indoor range are very expensive.
