I heard that there is no actual law on the books that requires us to pay federal income tax. I know its the norm to do so and all, but is it actually a law? If so, how do these crackpot groups come up with their argument.

I met a fellow about 20 years ago that had gone along with some folks that thought IRS tax collection could be defeated. The guy i met was about a week out of prison, after serving 5 years, iirc. His advice on the subject was "Don't listen to them." point taken...
