Thanks ghentry for the link to the thread. I think you did a great job on the 94, even with the troubles with blueing. Besides, I bet it holds more sentimental value now that you've poured some of your own sweat and toil into it than before!

I'm sorry to hear about your layoff, too. Best of luck and well-wishes on finding a new, and BETTER, one!!

I know that this thread has been pretty much set aside (and perhaps forgotten), but I, too, am interested in ghentry's restoration techniques used on his 94.

Did anything more about it get posted? Perhaps in another thread?

I refinished my Remington Model 11 16 Ga. stock and foregrip years back (a little Homer Formsby's and some Tung Oil did a great job), and the blueing (well, it's actually brown) and other metal parts were always in good shape, so I didn't have to do anything with them. But, I have two old .22's that someone gave me (literally in pieces) that need a total rebuild/refinish, and would make for great "practice" on something I think I would really enjoy doing (and is why I accepted them in the first place).
